WHEN - can we expect a service that is even close to deserving the name satisfactory
WHEN - will you employ some people who actually have some experience in the field off networking, hardware and mmorpg's
WHEN - will you employ more customer service staff and GM's to combat the enormous volumes of open petitions
Not unfair questions 4 months into a RETAIL service that is becoming more and more horrendous every single day ---------------------------------------------------

So perhaps if hell warmed up??

What gets me is that everyone knows this stinks. We know it, CCP (Constantly Crashing Programs) know it and even the fanboys know it. But we have this pretence that everything is alright. Well it is not alright. Today has been nothing short of dreadful.

LOL>. yep... I tried to cancel today after I got a response from a petition it wouldn't let me either.. heh.. a new customer retention ploy??.. I haden't even attempet to connect to play. Although "play" may not be the best term to describe the experience I have been having of late. Yes I know.. I sound like a carebear.. whiner.. bla bla.. but I'm afraid we may be seeing the "deaththroes" of Eve, afterall you can only have substandard service and gaming environment for so long then the word gets out and people will find other far more enjoyable things to do... hitting my head against a brick wall for a choice... Funny how people talk about a beta.
Yet every game I have bought in the past few years has had to have at least one patch to add gameplay, fix something or generally tweak. Does that mean every game for sale is in beta?
How about the bigger online games, such as Ultima Online and EQ? Both are always patching it seems, and adding, tweaking etc - would you say those 2 are in beta still, after 5 years or more?
At what point is a game not beta?

Purgatori aggreed this game still seems in Beta and CCP is charging us for Beta Testing to complete their Budgets. This game is already lagging with 5k people and long before CCP promised that they are ready to support 10 times the customers.

Is the game lagging?Or the internet? Seems to take ages for websites to load this evening anyway - would that have any bearing on the problems of lagging? Oh, and just tried EQ - people talking about lag there too.

Why are people stuck in stations/system all the time???
Why are the giant secure container bagged??? they are worthless right now???
Why tere are asteroids so big u can't aproach them and mine them???
Why if u kill a GM ship u get banned... wouldn't be easy to make GM Ships undestryable... by putting a 100.000.000HP???... or better... unlockable???
This are just some of the reason i belive this game is a BETA

Thats just some of the reasons that makes me believe u havent really clear on what you are talking about. 1. They was forced to release the game a bit unfinished, they are aware of that. Which u dun seems to be. 2. Ppl stuck is hardware related, read bout their serversetup? not a lan-network we are talking about.... 3. Giant containers... yeah they are bugged live with it. They will fix it, not only u its bugged for... 4. You dont get banned for killing a gm, u get a warning for disturbing them from making their jobs. Sure they prolly could spend time on making them undestroyable but dun u want them to work on fixing bugs istead? 5. You have a 10km range with ure mining lasers or more, if u want to ram it with ure ship b4 u starts mining sure go ahead.
I know it sounds like im trying to push you down in your shoes, im just tired of all ppl flaming (i say do it better yourself, if u cant stfu). And yeah my english aint so good but i dun care. Try to make the best out of it istead of making it worse. Dont forget to have fun.

Herein lies one of the major problems of Eve. Something is bugged, they know how to fix it but we have to wait for the next huge patch. In the meantime this and other bugs can be and are being exploited. This is actually why we have the screwed up sec system - because TomB was on holiday and they didn't fix the weapon mod stacking that m0o used. So we got a knee-jerk reaction (after a few weeks) and then the core problem was fixed. Mmmmm....
Edit - m0o used what was available and worked damn hard to get the mods first, so there was no exploit. The fact remains that had the core problem been fixed first then m0o couldn't have held Mara/Passari and we wouldn't have this lunatic sec system

Best explination ive read so far of what caused all that. And yes it goes a bit far down the line tho the worst is the probs with server when it goes down. The rest can we live with a bit. I think they should split up the patches n like bugfix 4-5 bugs directly at nearest downtime every second day (can be a bit annoying everyday perhaps). Only my 2 cents.

of course, love this game myself. Think ccp try to do the best thing out of this and for me that counts more n what actually happens. In other games sometimes u dun never even get an answer whats wrong n thats really annoying.

Thanks all for replies - we will see if we get any from devs ....I wont be holding my breath!
But one point - please dont bring out the old battered argument about this is a mmorpg and this is what happens.....
Yes normally it is FOR THE FIRST FEW WEEKS and then things get better rather than worse.
Oh go on then a second point - I remember getting my ass flamegrilled for posting that there were not enough gm's or development staff to keep on top of a product like this 2 weeks after release....
Where are the flamers now?
These problems have nothing to do with your ISP's, hardware, seemingly hourly DOS attacks - it is all CCP or their providers related. How do I know? Well my gf is sat next to me playing swg all night trouble free, i logged onto PS while eve was down-playing with a ping of 80, my 3 mates i called while the server was down were all playing their games onlineno problems smooth as silk.
To sum it up tonights latest excuse - a f**kin power outage.......

hehe anyone rememebr release of EQ and anarchy online? 6months plus and they were barely playable ... UO had massive lag problems for many many months ... EVE is still one of the better releases, but those not familiar with mmorpgs dont' realize how much better it is.
Go with the flow ... things will get better as they gain experience. Also remember, they are human... and while some humans are exceptionally bright, even those people have their issues... same goes for very good game designers and programmers. They can be the best in their field and still make mistakes. It happens ... they're human. If you don't wan tto wait, cancel your accoutn and come back in a few months to check it out ... or ride it out. It will get better.

Not always easily done... especially in that perticular market. Only so many programmers have experience with mmorpgs, and most are still with the companies that they got their experience from. Or you saying they should offer mass amounts of cash they don't have to get someone from sony or origin? As far as Eve programming is concerned, and the mmorpg realm as a whole, its still new.

I have no idea what server you were on playing SWG but it sure wasn't Gorath, couldn't be. DSL 640 up/down, AMD2400+ with 1 Gig Ram, and NVidia TI4400 Video card and was laggy as hell when more then 20 peeps around.
In terms of CCP and the issues with Eve, why they release when they did I doubt we will ever have the full story but it reeks of money and business issues. They took a gamble to release when they did for what ever reason and went for broke hoping for the best. As frustrating as it has gotten at times, thier support at least with me has been pretty good and the game is coming along nicely imho. Hope the future keeps getting brighter.
