I can't log in to the test server at the moment, but I was able to see the login screen, and go to the options screen.
THE NEW FONT IS HORRIBLE.
Yes, it deserves caps.
I like the old font, I always have. The new font is not any easier to read in my opinion, and it's far less aesthetically pleasing to boot.
If you must offer an alternative font, please allow us the option to still use the old font if we want.
As a general rule, as we learned with ship spinning, new options are great, but don't take away what's worked for 8 years and make the new thing mandatory.
please. |

THE NEW FONT IS AWESOME.
Yes, it deserves caps.
As someone who has actually been on sisi and used the front rather then stare at the login screen I can confirm this. It is an improvement.

At first it seems bit horrible, but after a while you get brainwashed and begin to think it's ok. Atleast this is what happened to me after spending a few hours on Singularity. Think that they are still tinkering with making it look good though, not sure. F&ID: Skill Training, Agent Finder What is CCP Guard gonna do with that grenade? |

but the old font is so neat, clean, and tidy. Things line up and are even. I've NEVER had a problem reading it, but I do admit to knowing many folks who have.
The new font is messy. It's not even. Things don't line up. To me, it's looks like something someone doodled on a napkin while day-dreaming about biscuits.
Like I said in the op, I haven't got to log on and see it full force...
What are the wallet transactions like? Are the numbers at least mono-spaced or are they all willy-nilly as well?
I'm not saying they shouldn't put the font in, for folks that like it better, but does it have to be one or the other, can't we have a choice?

The font itself is fine, the UI looks like it needs some tinkering with to accomodate it however. |

I've used the new font and I think it's a big improvement. Looks good in EVE, reads very clearly. Numbers sorted so now fixed width. People have moaned about the old font for years - this is much better but may just take a little bit of getting used to.
Log into SISI and change the font size and UI zooming options, it'll serve much better than looking at a pic. |

I'll do that, but says the server is down atm.
seems like i'm very much in the minority here. That new font looks like it should be on some ftp web-based fluffy-bunny game though, not the cold-harsh world of eve. having non fixed-width letters will drive me bonkers in many situations, and in others probably won't matter a lick.
BUT, I suppose setting up the UI to accommodate 2 differently sized fonts might be a royal pain and thus a waste of time and resources?

If CCP were to release it like this, then I would agree with you. But we are talking about the test server and everything on there is subject to change. They are also working on UI scaling which allows you to adjust the scale from 90% up to 150%.
Once everything is tested, cleaned up, etc. I'm sure it will be an improvement over the current TQ font. But I'll second the motion to give us the choice of fonts if possible. TBH, I'd like to see several options for fonts and sizes. Surrender is still your slightly less painful option. |

Just because EVE is a cold harsh environment doesn't mean our eyes have to suffer. I've along with many others have complained about the font, frankly I'm glad to see the back of it.

hah, I thought someone ate my post at first, then I realized... it must've gotten moved. The new forums don't leave a ghost post on the original forum category anymore. odd.
Anyway, thanks for those screenies.
Still don't like the new font.
Still love the old font.
I'll be completely honest, those screen shots make me hate the new font even more. It looks like a child took a pencil and printed the letters onto the screen, rather than something that was generated by the computer.... and what's up with the numbers? they're huge and bulbous.... so now instead of looking thru 10 pages of wallet transactions, I'll have to look through 20 just to get the same amount of information?
Overviews are going to fill up with fewer targets..... I see sooo many problems.
I know some people have trouble reading the font, but that's not the only issue here that's relveant. UI space is at a premium, and why should the words begin to take up 150% or 200% of the space they used to if I can read them fine they way they are now? |

It's a definite improvement in terms of readability. Aesthetically, though.... it doesn't seem quite right for Eve, I guess. Then again, function over form and all that. |

I have to agree. I play on two Samsung 206BW 1680x1050 monitors. When I tried Sisi again, for the first time ever since I started playing Eve, I didn't have to lean forward and rest my elbow on my desk to play Eve. It sounds stupid, but because of the constant pressure of the elbow on my desk I actually developed Cupital Tunnel Syndrome... pinky and half of the middle finger goes numb because the cubital nerve gets pinched and damaged and can cause permanent damage/pain.

Well it seems we're in the minority here, but I have to agree. I have no problem with the current font presently on Tranquility. This new one looks like someone is writing a BASIC program on a Spectrum 48k. More importantly, I can only see about half as much information on screen at a time = major functionality impairment.
Either provide an option to keep the current font, or at least a way to resize it so that we don't lose functionality. |

Absolutely detest the new font. Can't stand it. Makes me want to gouge my eyes out.
If I have to stare at that monstrosity constantly on my now bigger than ever overview, chat, fleet, watchlist, drone tabs I just wont bother.
If it's not optional from the start I'll just be unsubscribing until everyone makes you bring it back like ship spinning or someone releases a client hack / patch to restore it.
Good job. |

Personally I found the new font much easier to read and looked much crisper than the old one. Nex (Cash Shop)-á/ Aurum - removing sand from the sandbox since Incarna. To my eyes (which ain't the best but hey..) the new font is far easier to read. That being said I actually prefer the old font as it looks neater to me.
Being able to choose between the two would be a decent option IMO, it's just a shame we can't use any font we may have installed on our systems.
I want to use Wingdings, dammit!

Yep, for us to be able choose would be best, much like with the old vs. new icons discussion. However I have no idea how much headache an option like this would cause our dear CCP devs.
I'd like to add that I think we all have a tendency to hate on new things too fast.. F&ID: Skill Training, Agent Finder What is CCP Guard gonna do with that grenade? |

The new font is simply, too many pixels high, it feels streched.
That being said, the places where it is BOLD, it does look pretty good.
So either destrech or add some weight to the text, and it will be alot better. |
