Edited by: Jimmy Rye on 11/02/2006 08:25:28 Make some friends! Spam Channels: stating what you wanna do,use the Local/Corp channels. It will take less time than you think to round up a decent group of people
Eg. "Mining Operation starting <your local> convo <your name> for invite" or "Rat hunting group forming <your location> convo <your name> for invite"
Ive found that the best way to learn how to play an MMO is to take the initative and start/join a group. If the group goes well add the participants to your address book and keep in touch. 2 minds are better than 1.
Playing an MMO solo is not as fun as playing in a group. I learnt how to play SWG (starwars galaxies) from going on squill hunting groups that were formed on that good old bridge in anchorhead. Those squill hunts taught me the ropes and were the most fun I had playing that game.
You'd be suprised what you will learn from other players that are in the same boat you are in. Also you may find some veterans that will give you advice and tips.
Personally, I will join any one posting a mining op, last week during a publicly posted op I leaned about a skill called mining upgrades. I was using the medium barge and did not have any mining upgrades skills. Joining that OP was worth dividing the profits up to 2 other people that were still mining in frigates.
This is one piece of advice I have for any new player in any MMO game.

Jimmy, based on my understanding of the game you are giving very very bad advice here.
Perhaps someone with more experience will confirm this but I have understood that if you gang up with someone, he is then free to attack you. Veterans warn beginners here to NEVER gang up with someone you don't know.
I think people who don't want to play alone need to join corporations.

almost 3 years, am i veteran enough?
As long as your above 0.4 space, forming a gang with someone is just convenient. Once your in low sec space then joining unknown gangs is a bad idea due to pirate problems.
Edit: There used to be an exploit where you could freely shoot gang members, this was removed almost 2 years ago. I'm surprised this rumour is still going around
============== This is a sig O RLY? - Imaran I've only done 4 hours of Tools for 2D graphics, give me a few weeks and i'll be cool, really. |

Actually, if one of the characters you gang with are at war, his opponents will be able to kill you highsec. Some people make an alt corp and declare on it, and get ppl into gang with an alt from that corp, then kill whoever they ganged. You will get a warning though.

Spamming is a surefire way to get on my Block list. Say what you need, but if you have to keep repeating yourself, it's a good sign that no one is interested.
I'm not here to win any popularity contests. I couldn't care less what you think of me - all that matters is this: Can you defend your opinions? |

The best way to make friends is if some1 asks for help for a mission and if you can do the mission go and help him.

Eve is not a game you can play long by yourself. You won't get far from what I can tell. You'll do a LOT more and have a lot more fun if you make friends on Eve.
Don't ask for friends below .5 security...they'll just blow you up down there =P
Be aware that if you do a mining op with complete strangers...they might steal the stuff you mine (gang members can take from each others jet cans).
