Raven
highs: 6x arbalest siege, 1x heavy 1x med dim nos meds: gist c-type SB, gist b-type SBA, 4x rat specific gist b-type hardeners lows: 2x bcu-II 2x pdu-II
5x small and 5x large rat specific drones
tank runs forever even without the nos. its a way too expensive setup though, i had the mods lying around and wanted to see what it could do in the tougher missions (angel extra, enemies abound) but they never got me under 80% shield.
been a long time since i did any missions...

Mid: Gist B-Type XL Shield Booster 4 x tech2 hardeners last slot varies with missions: caprech2, sba, fifth hardener...
Low: 1 pds t2 1 cpu t2 3 x ballistic t2
Depends on bs rats being nosfed to tank indefinitively though
Youre gonna be real short on powergrid there..and a SBA will *always* outperform a 5th (or even a 4th) hardener

Very true, for missions, a SBA is almost a must imo.
/me strokes his gist b-type one.
i even use them in pvp, for shield tanking theyre a must

Just 2 hardeners will get you in trouble on, for example, the 5th stage of guristas extravaganza and the first one of enemies abound - you *need* at least 3 hardeners, sometimes 4, to survive.

Edited by: Sokratesz on 30/10/2006 14:07:25 Hm i must be underestimating the xlarge shieldboosters then :) I switched to large ones a long time ago cause they hold it just fine (with proper hardeners) and give you much more freedom in fitting the ship.

Yes, one gist c-type large booster, runs indefinetly even w/o the noses. Xlarge shieldboosters nerf your setup too much (take too much CPU and cant be run 24/7 anyway)
And harybary..why use cruises? your damage output versus battleships will suck :) (then again..i have decent drone skills so they tear apart the cruisers silly quick)

What do you think about SB? Large or XLarge? I think Gist Booster will help out in the most lvl4 missions, but is the boost ammount pro sec enough for tanking? The large are also alot cheaper :)
Suggestions?
AFTRUNX
T2 siege + xlarge booster won't work (lack of cpu) and you dont want to waste a lowslot for a coproc. A gist (c/b) large booster + boost amp and good resists will tank everything for you.

Inen. Use 4 hardeners and a shield boost amplifier. Youll be amazed.

Originally by: Ariel Dawn just working on cap skills to be able to run the Large forever (if its possible in this setup). What do you guys think?
With 3 PDU-II you probably can, with both cap skills at 5. Gist C-type booster is better since it uses less cap and has only a slightly lower cap/boost ratio.
*edit* thats not taking in account the noses.

With a Shield boost amp that is?
With a decent SBA and good shield skills, easily. I use gist-b hardeners and a gist-b SBA and laughing my way though even zazzmatazz. It will also run indefinetly..so i just turn it on when i start and leave it from then.
On enemies abound they will take me to about 50 - 60% shield but thats when the high recharge rate (skills + 3 PDU-II) kicks in and helps out alot.

Really, when fighting angels you'll want more then 2 hardeners. And i dont really see why people insist on using XL boosters, the cap requirements are too high for running them 24/7 and they gimp your fitting options quite a bit.

Originally by: Darkenral Gisti Large SB'ers wont cut it on several missions where you get full room agro. The XLG usually does along with providing an even larger margin for error. I would STRONGLY recommend the xlg.
Dark
With proper skills, good resists and a good SBA it will ALWAYS cut it, provided you kill things (and not let it sit there). Using a large booster instead of an Xlarge one gives you SO MUCH MORE fitting freedom, in fact, it's impossible to come up with a sensible CNR fitting with 7x torp T2 launchers and an Xlarge booster.
