I am thinking of trying a long-range drone combat setup.
1) Is there any stacking penalties for using Drone Augmentation/Omni directional Tracking link?
Let say I have 4xDrone augmentation link modules and 2xOmni and Scout drones IV (40k range). Does that mean I get (40+4x20) *1.4 = 168 km range?
2) Range of Sentry drones: Is their max range changed at all by using drone augmentation/Omni? Guess it does not. if we take a Warden for example it has a 50km optimal tange and 25k falloff and 100k activation proximity. I guess this means that it will be able to attack anything within 100k. But if I am not wrong it must be within your drone range.
3) Do you need to get into sccop range to pickup Sentry drones? (I am pretty sure you have but need to ask to confirm).
4) Also, sometimes drones will pick and attack targets on their own even before you have told them to enage any target. What is the rule for them starting to attack? Will they always attack any hostiles within their proximity range (even if you have not even locked a target). What does count as hostile if that is the case? When they start shooting or even when one locks you?

I forgot:
5) How much will speed be increased on a hevay drone by using a Drone nav module? Stats says 25 N but not sure how that relates to speed

You have drone range and drone CONTROL range all mixed up - they are not the same thing.
Drone link augs, scout drones skill, EW drone int skill all affect your base drone CONTROL range of 20k - so with 4 links and scout drones IV you will have 120k control range.
The omni tracking computers, and drone sharpshooting, increase drone's optimal range - mostly useful for sentry drones.

Ah ok. The description of Omni link is not that clear: "Improves max range and tracking on all drones"

Btw, do you mean that EW Drone Interface increse drone control range for all drones and not only for EW drones?

1) Not that i'm aware of 4*Drone augementor = 80km + scout drones IV means that you can control drones upto 120km (IE: You can order them to attack anything within 120km of your ship)
2) There is no range on drones, they will attack anything within your control radius. They will autoargo to ranges upto 50km (unless you're in a gang, incase they wont autoargo anything). Autoargoing only occurs if the enemy is within 50km of the drone, and the enemy is in your drone control range.
The tracking link just makes the drones shoot better and longer. I'm not sure of their stacking penalty, since you cannot check it from the drone. So basically the optimal of the drone would be 50km*1.4 = 70km with two tracking links and combined with the double optimal, the drones would still hit at 70km+2*25km = 120km range of the enemy.
3) Yes
4) See nro2.
5) Cant see the question atm.

Do you know what the activation proximity stat is then? I thought that was the stat controlling at which range they would auto-aggro.
I also wonder what targets drones considered enemies. I know they will auto-aggro NPCs but how about Pvp? Do the enemy need to be shooting at you for drones to aggro or maybe also if enemy is in war with you (I guess empire war only).
What I am thinking of is if drones will auto aggro player targets before you have locked target and told them to engage. It would be pretty cool if you are cloaked and decloak, launch drones and they will start aggroing before the sensor recalibration time is finished.

You will loose Control of your drones if you cloak again.

I use an ishtar with long range drones. I warp in close, launch the drones and use a 10mn mwd to fly out to 80-100km at 2km/sec. Two Drone link augmentors and a named sensor booster keep me locked onto targets and able to command my drones to move about.
The real bonus I can think would be to run two sensor boosters and 4-5 drone links for a range of ~174km. In practice, the range seemed to be about 160km for some reason but that's more than enough. Drop some sentry drones near a 0.0 gate, mwd out to 160km and wait. You need to lock a target and manually tell them to fire at it like with other drones. If only you could activate drones after decloaking but apparantly cloaking makes your drones just die until scooped.
