The only real change that is needed is to change some of the pre reqs from 5 to 4. TBH I'm not even so certain about that, but can justify some of them. I'm training large energy turret on my 2nd account atm, from lvl 4-5.
I have all my needed learning skills to advanced lvl 4.(don't have social to that level...yet) I have a couple of implants in him. Nothing major, some +2 +3. It still takes 23 days, but I need that skill to get more advanced weps on him, so I do it. I do it, knowing that anyone else out there who has already done it has gone through it the same as I am now, so don't see it as a problem, in fact I appreciate those that have already done it a lot more.
I think some of the starter skills could be given a small boost, maybe some extra school skills being added to lvl 1 or 2 in basic areas such as engineering, electronics etc. Yeah can even lower the pre req for advanced learning from 5 to 4 (even though I have trained them up to advanced lvl 4 on 2 accounts I don't mind that change) but please don't go nuts and lowering too many pre reqs from 5 to 4. I might be a bit sick, but I really appreciate the time others have put in to get to say BS lvl 5, and I hope to do the same myself one day, and wouldn't like to see that commitment devalued overnight.
This "main" of mine has a lot of skills to lvl 5, in the science/industry areas, the danger here is that by lowering to many skills you will overnight devalue the effort put in to get them at that level, and really importantly for me, devalue tech 1 stuff.
If everyone is running around in really high level tech 2 stuff to fast to easy, the newer players coming behind them still in T1 will just start screaming out for the pre reqs to go from lvl 4 to lvl 3, then to lvl 2, then to no pre reqs...it is a dangerous spiral to devalue the tech 1 gear (which is still very useful) to quickly. If everyone has 5/5 refine or build skills, the effort put into get those skills and thereby increase profits devalues a lot. It is a dangerous road, I hope Oveur and CCP think it through real hard before taking such a drastic step. What happens when tech 3 stuff comes in? Or Tech 4? You going to change things so that new players jump into T2 gear right away? Dangerous dangerous road to go down.
The ones that can be changed without a real uproar are things like the basic skill sets from school being given a small boost, harmless skills such as the pre req for getting a tractor beam being lowered (science 5 to get this is a bit daft, and I already have science lvl 5) are easy examples, as is the lowering from lvl 5 to 4 to get advanced learning. You could even lower that pre req to lvl 3 for all I care, as training it up to lvl 5 still has a real benefit that makes a difference.
The ones to be very wary of are skills such as those that directly give harm, being lowered as it will lead to everyone getting tech 2 ships/guns way to easy and way to fast. If every 3 month old pirate out there is running around in a T2 frig using T2 guns in 0.4, the newer players coming behind them will be in a real tight spot to retaliate. At least if they are in T1 gear those miners have a chance to swap to their own T1 and give them some payback.
I hope you get my point, I know I didn't express it too well. I have seen these sort of changes ruin games so easily before, please don't change to many things to much ~ the game rocks as it is, making it too easy will devalue the whole game, I like it being a difficult game to be really good at.
