ARG I'm so jealous dabs. I was seeing 1 frame every 7 seconds or so and could barely target. I seriously need to move from Hawaii to the UK to reduce my Eve lag...

It was a fun fight, and always good to see your name in lights ;). We heard there were some Celes camping Q-CAB, so decided to take a few people and go and check it out.
Lag was bad for some people, but not terrible even with Celes having all those drones out. Celes won it primarily because they were very optimised for close range, with ravens, heavy nos's, 20k scrams etc. We were set up for 150-170km as usual, but jumped in anyway.
I was jamming about 4 of them and tanking pretty good against about 10 targetting me; however I was getting scrambled by a BS and couldn't figure out which one like you could with an inty, so couldn't warp out. Some of our losses were definately avoidable, like the guys who warped back in at the end, but I guess we're not used to losing .
So props to Celes, and it's nice to see a win over ATUK, however small, is worth a video  . See y'all next time, do come back soon!

Everybody uses stabs now and then, extremly few says it -> eod (if i cared i would have pointed it out in caps trust me )

Because we had short-range ammo in by that time, obviously. Plus the fact that Q-CAB is a pretty unusual system to fight in so nobody would have had sniping BMs.
However switching to long range ammo and coming back in at 100km would have been a sensible thing to do, so you'd have to ask those guys about that. Heat of battle I guess.
CELES's loadouts are on the vid and in their killmails, and ours will be in our lossmails on our board, and no doubt on the CELES killboard also, so go and check it out rather than speculating.
I'll be very surprised if you can find an ATUK loadout that can't hit at 150km+ or contains a warp scrambler on a BS. Short range loadout at short range > long range loadout at short range. They lured us into a winning situation for them, and we went for it, simple as that. I'm not trying to detract from their victory, they set us up nicely.

CQC (Close Quarter Combat) owns long range sniping anyday for many reasons,
1stly, CQC takes alot more micro management skills, quick reactions on target calling and 'global awareness' skills being able to see incoming targets into the melee,
2ndly, CQC is alot more emersive, if you warp out and warp back in, or if you enter the battle late, its great warping into the very middle of the battlefield with exploding ships, all around you, finding your targets amongst all the debree.
3rdly, many different ship types can get involved, you have the heavy hitting battleships, the tackling frigates, the anti-frig frigates, damage dealing cruisers, defending cruisers..
4rthly, it shows off eve for what its meant to be, shooting box's 170km looks ***, feels ***, and tbpfh is ***, i hated doing it and which iis why i enjoyed my time in celes so much, CQC allows you to see ship models, fly around enemy battleships in your frigates, with gunfire all around... looks like the intro to Freespace II, if uve seen it.
Im sure people could come up with lots more reasons...

Quoted for eternal truth. Dunno why ATUK still uses that boring sniper tactic, its just no fun at all. Admitted, they are good at it, but they arent obviously at closer ranges (our experience of the fights we had vs. them in the past).

It was awesome fun, there were 66 people in H-PA - no way were we going in there. We knew ATUK would bring it, given the long, long standing hate between both sides, which is why we went in that direction :)

The reason we fought in that particular system was I was following fleet 1 jump behind (stupid lag) and got jumped by 2 ATUK intys and an F-E Dominix. Rest of people jumped back from next system - not that I needed help killing the BS of course and we were debating what to do when we heard ATUK fleet was heading down.
And stabs are horrible but in fairness I'll admit I was guilty too.
They saved my BS though! I missed a gang warp at the end of fight and was left on my own as 4 ATUK intys jumped back with some BS at range.

Great vid, h8 the music. Although there were numbers in H-pa the guys were involved in helping some friends move so lots of haulers and alot of the combat ships where in a different system. Secondly the Lag on jump in was simply terrible. Atuk had serveral lag warps. Lag also contributed to very difficult target calling.
Saying all this, respect to Celes for the victory. As soon as the new servers are online and the lag issue is resolved, im sure ATUK will be happy for a rematch. |

I didn't see the vid yet....but you are saying u were JAMMING 4 targets and TANKING good??? what kind of uber ship did u use?

It was a passive tank (about 30,000HP) which gives time to get out and rep even if you're getting shot up by a whole fleet. However I was getting warp scrambled by several of their BS and couldn't jam them all (and no stabs on).
Jammers were T2 racials which give both strength and range. We usually fight at range as no-one will engage close in... well, usually ;). You don't need to jam a target continuously, just enough hits that he spends most of his time relocking, e.g. the cameraman's raven.

we ALWAYS try to engage at close range, we are all old school PVPers and think sniping at 120k is the most cowardly way to play EVE, i mean all that effort for maybe 1 or 2 crappy kills?, whats the point in that... up close toe to toe is a buzz and is the way it should be played... i dont mind some snipers and possibly the ecm sitting out there, but entire fleets with all the catch on the gate stinks of lack of balls to me.
So respects for ATUK jumping in... even if i do hate u all. but bad blood makes the game interesting and the stakes higher.

Why are you saying that? ATUK bought slightly superior numbers so a good fair fight was had by all. Are you implying that bringing the blob would have resulted in a better fight?
It was laggy though and perhaps ATUK suffered more.

Dude, i`ll tell you secret Farming 10\10 is not enough, for fighting in HAC without stabs, especially with my fighting style. Stabz affecting your style of play in EVE. Most simple way - attack only if you are 100% sure that you will win. With stabz you can deal some damage, and then warp away.
So here going my point. Ppl, who prefer to stay on safespot, when enemy outnumbered them, and flood on eve-o, that "stabz 4tl" = well... They aren`t understanding this game.
