There are a lot of interesting modules with diverse effects that are simply not used right now because other modules are such no brainers to put in the same slot. If my 7th extruded heatsink wasn't going to do diddly for me anyway, I would be a lot more inclined to try out some of the other interesting low slot items I have been eyeballing but unable to bring myself to equip.
Seems most of the nerfs lately have been to counteract the effect of stacking, thereby making a single unit of any given item much less useful. Afterburners for instance...if 4 afterburners didn't stack in the way that they currently do, LiF's could go back to a respectable boost % and would actually be noticably different than a standard AB when used individually... (when I only put one LiF or one Afterburner I on my ship the difference is negligible) Same with shield hardeners..if they did 55-60% depending on rarity, but the second was MUCH less effective and the third was laughable then perhaps it wouln't be such an issue...again...same with sensor dampeners...people wouldn't equip 4, they would mix and match some other stuff for a change. But ohh boy am I going miss my big fat cargo hold when expanders get the same treatment :(
On a side note TomB, why do we have rare items with little or even *NO* difference from other rares, or even standard items? Seems like a huge waste of time on everyones part to have such items in the game. (examples below)

And could you please please please change the name of the small size medium named lasers? They are constantly confusing people...the small medium modulated energy beam I is the worst...it's name is medium its size is small, its icon is the same as the pulse, and both beam and pulse display the same "short name" in the hangar and the pulse has both "beam" and "pulse" in it's name....I can not think of a worse named set of items in the game...other than perhaps the misleadingly named rare "innefficent" repair unit which is actually very good if not the best in it's class hehe.
