CCP have agreed to pay the Hamsters time and a half until the 21st and have offered them substantial retirement packages. Hi hoo we're back online. --

A snake got loose and ate the hamster. They tried to reboot with the snake on the wheel but the snake crashed. Snakes aren't really skilled as hamsters are at running a wheel, probably because snakes don't have legs.

Mr. Murphy came by tonight.
First, either a proxy process crash or an IP conflict due to connectivity to the new TQ hardware caused massive node deaths. When half of the nodes had gone down, we initiated a reboot.
To make sure that this wasn't an IP conflict, I had to turn off all the new machines. After that was done, I attemtped to start TQ.
The startup went well, however, I quickly noticed that the countdown timer did not appear on the main TQ IP, so assuming that this was related to the earlier issue, I cancelled the startup.
After a little more investigation and when my cell phone was almost out of batteries, I retried startup, but no avail.
So after even more investigation by both me and network guys both in Iceland and London we found out that out main loadbalancer had gone into a weird state. After reloading it users started getting on again.
I hope this will be the end of the server issues tonight. ------ Valar Quality assurance department CCP games How to write a good bugreport |
