You guys are no doubt aware of the tragedy Philippines, as the result of the passing of hurricane Haiyan. This disaster has potentially cost the lives of over ten of thousands of people, and has bereft much the rest of that country of families, friends and homes.
As such, I propose we petition CCP to create a PLEX for good (https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/PLEX_for_GOOD) campaign to assist the victims of this current disaster.

Bumped for the lives lost and those that were fortunate enough to be alright. I would love to see CCP do something about the real world here. Internet spaceships are all good and all, but things like this pull us out of the atmosphere back to the said state of our RL. |

They are to cheap tp part with their own RL money but want CCP to do it instead. If they really want to help they know what to do, which isn't coming here and telling CCP what they should do with their money. "if you're not having fun in a sandbox, it's not the Sands fault" Jenn aSide |

That is a fair question, lol, I have certainly done so (in the name of Tengu Skunkworks no less!) , to salvation army UK (Ref: TSA0097916). It is not a huge sum, but it is what I can comfortably afford.
However, I am sure some players would appreciate the being given the choice of being able to do some good with their isk. It does not follow that having an excess of isk in game equates to having excessive wealth in real life, and if CCP is willing to convert this isk into real money for a good cause, I say it is a good thing.

If you want to help and you have the means, either donate your money through a registered charity organization or go out there and help. The people in the Philippines, nor the thousands of people undertaking the aid effort, are not going to even compute the fact that a bunch of gamers gave up some of their precious InterStellar Kredits earned in their leisure time. It's a self-absorbed and grandiose gesture for the benefit only of patting yourself on the back within this forum. It's a real-world situation and you know what to do if you want to help. Be honest. |

this is a well established program by CCP, having sent donations to Japan, Pakistan and Haiti.
There is currently 76b in a fund (sitting since 2011) waiting for the next drive to be converted.
IF you bothered to read, you would see that people are donating both ingame and out of game.... I for one know I can donate far more via PLEX than I can via RL, and as I said in the other thread, I am far from the only one.
It is a real world situation, and the $1900 already set aside will help real people. They do not care about the source of money, any more than a charity cares about the source. Not everyone can match what they would be able to give via PLEX with RL donations, not everyone can give blood, not everyone can fly out to the Philippines to assist in the aid effort.
Any charity donation is done during your leisure time, unless you work for a charity.
Have you asked anyone affected what they think? Have you asked any of the charities? Do you think they also turn down donations gained through 24 hour silences, fancy dress races, sitting in a bath of beans for a day, or a 24 hour gaming session, because these are also "self absorbed for the benefit of patting yourself on the back". |

You seem to be under the misunderstanding that the donation is made in ISK. It is not for obvious reasons. For each PLEX handed in CCP gives 14 dollars to an accredited charity. Hence every PLEX handed in is the direct equivalent of a 14 dollar donation.
As for going to help yourselves, frankly that is not really a possibility for most players in this game. The vast majority of eve players are based in the western hemisphere, where most jobs are long term commitments with relatively fixed work hours. |

It's nice to see that despite the fact you're all a big pack of meanies in game, there's a really positive vibe when it comes to programs such as PLEX for GOOD.
We're well aware of the horrible situation in the Philippines right now, and everyone who has been affected has our most sincere sympathies.
The Community Team are currently discussing potential options for what we may be able to do to harness the good will of the EVE Community, and are liaising with other departments at CCP to look into the best option.
While we can't promise anything at this stage, we're looking at the situation to see what, if anything, we can do to allow EVE Players to assist.
Apologies for the delay with regards to responding to this, but there are a lot of hoops to jump through in terms of conforming with legality before we can proceed with any form of donations.

Now that there's actually been an official response to this, consider me pledged if anything goes ahead, but someone may need to send me a mail or something to remind me if and when something actually gets set up because lately I'm frequently preoccupied with some heavy real-life stuff of my own, and I may forget. You don't scare me. I've been to Jita. |

Ahh to be honest I am not so sure myself, lol. I do always donate anonymously, and the name just occurred to me while I was doing so, I don't recall there was actually any reasons beyond this. |
