Hi there
I've decided to give a try to Amarr frigates and lasers, but i must say that i'm a bit lost and i would like to hear some suggestions from more experienced Amarr pilots. I have good gunnery skills and all the core skills to V, but i can't use T2 lazors yet.
So far, this fit is working really well, but probably i'm doing something wrong because i'm used to fly Caldari+Hybrids-Missiles.
Punisher, PvE Sansha and Blood
Small focused modulated pulse energy beam I x3, Microwave S and Multifrequency S Small Nosferatu II
1MN AB II Cap Recharger II
Heat Sink II Small armor rep II EM hardener II Thermic plating II
Small nanobot accelerator Small nano pump Small anti-thermic pump
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Standard advice with lasers is to use beams until you can use T2 Pulse, then use those. But, if it's working don't fix it? |

I am drone user and have hardly any gunnery skills trained. I am getting more interested in lasers, for I am starting to get more interested in the Legion. :)
Please correct me if I am wrong: About the Beam laser, I understand those as weapons that can be effectively used to kite targets outside of scram/web and optimal range? On a Punisher, maybe the usage of 10MN Afterburner would be a good choice, in addition to a cap booster? Heatsink, tracking enhancer, and a light tank in the lows would possibly be a good choice? Armor hardener might be a bit too hard to maintain on a frigate together with beam laser and armor repairer? I personally hate Nanobot accelerators, they do one more bad than good. |

I have had good succes with [Punisher, pve blood/sansha probe]
Small Armor Repairer II True Sansha Energized EM Membrane Heat Sink II Centii C-Type Thermic Plating
1MN Afterburner II Cap Recharger II
Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S Core Probe Launcher I, Sisters Core Scanner Probe
Small Capacitor Control Circuit I Small Gravity Capacitor Upgrade I Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I
The faction/dead space stuff is dirt cheap. You do up to 3/10 Sansha sites. If you don't want the probe launcher you could go with [Punisher, pve blood/sansha]
Small Armor Repairer II True Sansha Energized Thermic Membrane Heat Sink II True Sansha Energized EM Membrane
1MN Afterburner II Eutectic Capacitor Charge Array
Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S Small Focused Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S Small Diminishing Power System Drain I
Small Anti-Thermic Pump I Small Energy Collision Accelerator II Small Anti-EM Pump I

It takes about 4 days to train for small T2 guns. Well worth the time if you plan on flying the Punisher for more than a day
You said PVE but are you talking about level 1 missions? If so it doesn't take much to do them.
[Punisher, Level 1 Missions] Small Armor Repairer II Adaptive Nano Plating II Adaptive Nano Plating II Heat Sink II
1MN Afterburner II Cap Recharger II

Thank you for the suggestions, i will give a try to those fits because look really good.
Oh and yes, i forgot to say that the pve i'm looking for are ded sites. I use a Harpy for the hi sec sites and i would like to use a Retribution in Amarr space, but first i wanted to fly a bit with the Punisher. I'm wondering if i can run the Mul-Zatah Monastery with an amarrian Assault Frigate. I know that probably a minmatar AF is better for the job, but hey why not try with sexy lazors.
Thank you again for sharing your fits. |

The Retri might be able to do it but it's unlikely a Punisher could survive the last room of Mul-Zatah Monastery cause there are 4 web towers, if you can't get out of the web tower range in time you'd pop pretty fast. |

Yeah, i will try with the Retribution when i can fit T2 lasers. I know well the site, but the way i'm doing it is... boring. Deploy Curators II, pop stuff, grab the peanut. I did the site with other ships less "overpowered" and it is still easy.
I don't know if i can do that because those 24 sentries+webbing towers will hurt for sure, but... yeah, i like to try things like this. I didn't know that a passive Harpy could tank the second pocket of the Serpentis 4/10 while killing the Overseer until i did it for the first time, but there are no webbers there, only dampeners. |

Yeah you can achieve quite alot in smaller cheaper ships, just recently I've been using a Tristan to run Guristas DEDs in order to test what an Astero will be capable of and I was pretty surprised to find that I am able to 4/10s in the Tristan which has almost identical tank/sig/damage/cap/speed stats as my planned Astero fit. I also managed ran the Guristas Vigil unrated site as well as the first escalation expedition but sadly didn't get the next escalation.
I'm really pleased with the results as my planned Astero fit will have Covops Cloak + Probe Launcher + Relic/Data Analyzer + Dual Prop and still have enough tank to do up to do these sites as well so it will an awesome swiss-army-knife low/null sec explorer for not too much (hopefully). |

Have you looked into a Tormentor?
Not as good of resists, but it has a 3rd mid and a 10m3 drone bay.
For PvP, i prefer the 'mentor |

Edit// Also I've noticed that in DED/Unrated sites, I almost never get drone aggro if the rats aggroed me first, which makes kiting the rats very easy. I thought with 20+ frigs in some sites a droneboat wouldn't be viable but it's actually really easy because they don't aggro which is weird because in security missions frigates aggro light drones ALL the time.
Yeah, that's true. However there are some expeditions where your drones might get killed if you don't deploy them very close to you. I'm thinking now in the first escalation of Medical Twilight (Blood Watch triggers this) and some others i don't remember now. The elite frigates will aggro them, besides of neuting, webbing and warp disrupt you in the worst case.

Sure, why not. I'm having some fun with the Punisher and i think i'm going to like Amarr ships more than i thought. I appreciate the suggestion and i will take a look at the Tormentor. |

That would be the fit with meta beams. 4400 ehp vs sansha/blood 102 dps multi @8.3+6 Cap stable without rep on, 58s with it on.

[Tormentor, Sansha PvE] Damage Control II Small Armor Repairer II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Thermic Plating II
Experimental 1MN Afterburner I X5 Prototype Engine Enervator Small Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 150
Dual Light Beam Laser II, Multifrequency S Dual Light Beam Laser II, Multifrequency S Dual Light Beam Laser II, Multifrequency S
Small Anti-Thermic Pump I Small Anti-EM Pump I Small Trimark Armor Pump I
Acolyte II x2
Use the meta where you cant fit the t2. Also, dont always think Meta 4 is better. Sometimes it's not worth the price :-)
This fit is strictly negating the Sansha's dmg to you, that way you can pulse your SAM. The web is there to help with ships you're having a hard time hitting |

A few things, first you should avoid using cap boosters on a frigate for low end DED complexes as you'll find that you'll need to use your repper quite alot because most of the NPCs are frigs which can hit you even if you're travelling at high speed/transversal, you should have enough cap recharge to run the repper enough to survive. Second, you should swap the trimark for an auxiliary nano pump because the EHP is fine as it is but making your rep more efficient will help you tank. Lastly and most importantly, never use Amarr drones, Hobgoblins are better even against Sansha. |
