And yes, OP, many players have that sort of opinion in EvE. Mostly, they think whatever way the play the game, the specific things they do for fun, are/should be the only reasons people play for. That's why the highsec-hater crowd give carebears so much stick, they don't understand how people can do all the things they label as boring and still have fun. Kind of ironic, considering many of them never leave highsec either, living it up as gank-bears. It's pretty rare to have people argue that every play-style is valid and acceptable, most argue for their specific niche. But EvE is great for exactly the reason that it caters to different people's needs and desires. Post with your main, like a BOSS!

I separate character from player, because I think for the most part, we play this game very different to the way we act in RL, and it isn't about being adult or not. This game doesn't reflect our RLs, it's just a game and a chance for a bit of escapism and roleplay. So the fun people have in the game and on the forum doesn't have to reflect in any way their behaviour or attitudes in RL; and I'd dare write that for most people, we are very mature and respectable in RL, even if pirates and scum in the game. However I've always been nice to reply back to thier Concerns on how and why I killed them. Just so we all know I kill only in low sec! I never ganked a player in high sec only if they are flagged. I guess people feel more invisible behind thier computer Then in RL, so that is why they act the way do on forums And in game. I'm sure there are lots of genuine players on EvE but very few Are noticed!

This place isn't that different from a hundred thousand other forums across the internet, each with their own customs, cultures and general butt fuckery. Everyone's best bet when dealing with such entities is learning the invisible rules which run such places, and try to avoid the faux pas which will end up with people trolling the bejesus out of you. Secondly. Trolls - in ye olde days they used to live under bridges, eating billy goats and occasionally getting their arses handed to them by over zealous D&D players. Now they thrive on the brittle shelled newbies, who either haven't learned the rules, or just open themselves up to the sorts of broadsides which would leave Battleships feeling insecure. You have one of three choices here: 1. Ignore it. 2. Feed them. Grow them. Then laugh maniacally as you loose them onto the next wave of newbies. 3. Avoid attracting them in the first place. Thirdly. People use Eve to blow off steam and get a giggle. Most people are relatively nice and polite, even when killing you in-game. The forum tends to be a much harsher place, but that's because the veterans have seen it all and can spot a stupid post/question/circle jerk a mile away. They could be nice and polite, but there's been so many idiots posting, that it's far easier to let people be idiots, rather then trying to be nice and hitting their heads against brick walls. Fourthly, the post you made is going to attract flack like a WW2 bomber. Oh, and I like making lists... I think. Sticking to them is another matter entirely.
