OK, this has prolly been asked before but as these forums STILL DON'T HAVE A SEARCH FUNCTION I'll just have to ask.
I have a GF4 Ti4200 and when I switch on FSAA I get graphical anomalies, the most annoying one being that the sun shines thru everything - planets, stations, ships, asteroids - everything.
Anyone know a way to get FSAA without it screwing everything up?

That`s easy:
Just update your Detonator to something higher than 41.xx . I recommend 44.03 . In earlier versions, sun-occluding is not supported.

I have 45.23
Its the same as b4 - sun occlusion is *trying* to work, but failing.... the result is that the sun flickers on and off very rapidly when its behind something. As before, turning off FSAA fixes the problem, but I want to play with FSAA on!

Must be a driver problem since I never had this happen with AA on my ATI 9700pro.
The AA on my card is probably done different that those older cards. I wonder if an 8500 would have the same problem, though the performance probably wouldn't be good anyway to warrant it.
Are there any settings for quality of AA on your 4200, maybe there's an option for a different type of AA. My last Nvidia card was the GF3, so I don't know about the 4200.

I experience the same thing. Suns not going "behind" things like asteroids and my ship, and the like although it does go behind planets. I'm also using nvidia drivers v45.23. I do not use FSAA.
However, I chalked it up to my old card. It's only a GeForce 2 MX 400 and one expects it to not handle recent games so well.
The next time that I play I'll turn FSAA on and see what happens.

I dont have any problems with my radeon 9800 pro. I also have a computer running a Radeon 8500 128mb card and that also has no problems running EVE. Both are P4 2.4s Beware the Spoons |

I played the game with FSAA on. One lil note first: Kudos to the dev team/s. Even on my old card - not counting inside of the stations - it ran at an 'acceptable' speed.
Anyhow, I have the same experience with FSAA on as I do with it off. The suns happily shine through large asteroids, my ship, both, and similar behavior.
Certainly not a game stopper IMO, though it is a bit annoying when you can't get the brightness out of your eyes.

Both are running windows XP professional with service pack 1 with all the updates installed. Both have the latest drivers from ATI. Also have Direct X 9 installed. Only things that are running in the background on both are Norton Antivirus and firewall. Beware the Spoons |

Yep, it does seem to happen even with FSAA turned off - hadn't noticed that before for some reason.
However I have noticed that you can make the sun be occluded (this is both with and without FSAA but seems to be easier to do without) by zooming in or out. At certain zoom distances the soon will shine through things and at others it will not. Perhaps this is caused by the same bug that makes all the station polygons overlap? Something to do with the z-buffer and the huge draw distances in EVE. BTW setting colour to 32 bit does *not* fix that bug on my machine nor on the machines of any of my friends that play, nor does switching on/off the 32bit z-buffer. :(

Got no problem with that on my system.
P3 600 768 PC100 ram Windows XP Pro Geforce FX 5200 w/ 45.23 drivers Directx 9.0a
I run the game and can go from full to windowed w/o probelm and the sun shines thru nothing.
