Cleared client side cache. Launcher version 2.1.655130. Launcher reports "client is ready." Click play. Says "Launching." Wait. Nothing. Rinse. Repeat.
Already did all the stuff various "experts" have recommended on the forums, nothing.
Patch appeared to download successfully.
Repair tool fails.
No response to support ticket.
Not at all impressed and out of time for this. |

Having this same problem. Everything worked fine, patch downloaded fine, launcher updated, says ready to launch, I click, I wait and nothing happens and PLAY reappears as if I never clicked it.
Worked fine yesterday. |

Precisely. Worked fine earlier today, in fact. |

Can you check if there is an exefile.exe process running in the background? If so, are you running with DX11 or DX9? Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

If there is no exefile runnning could you guys please provide us with some logs? The launcher logs should be located under launcher/cache in your eve installation folder, and is named something like launcher.2013.11.19.log. If you could please locate that file, paste it's entire contents to pastebin.com and provide us with the link then we can take a look at it and try and help you. You guys seem to be running DX11, can you try running in DX9 to see if that resolves the issue? Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

Open the settings dialog in the launcher (that small wheel icon in the top right corner), go to the DirectX tab and select DirectX 9. Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

Update:
There is no exefile.exe running.
In the launcher, I clicked Settings > DirectX. It was set to DirectX 11 by default.
I changed it to DirectX 9. Game now launches normally.
Thanks! |

its not working... when I launch it and then try to use repair tool.... repair tool giving massage that launcher.exe is running.... when i go to windows task manager there is nothing about aplications that are rigged to eve.... however when I go deeper to resources monitor.... there is info about launcher.exe running... and I need to remove it from there to start from begining...
As I can see from other post its this DX9-11 issue... and I cant change it because of other issues rigged to settings icon... at least give me some link or info how to change DX to 9 without this icon;) |

OK, so the repair tool can be ignored for this problem, that just as a sidenote.
And to clarify: You saw that there were launcher.exe processes running in the background. You terminated these from the task manager. Then you started eve.exe again? In worst case: Have you tried rebooting your computer before restarting EVE? Sometimes Windows leaks some handles and those rare moments can cause weird issues. Just wanted to pop in quickly to say that I had the same problem and switching to DX9 fixed it. Running Intel HD3000 integrated graphics (don't laugh, it's a secondary machine).
Thanks, nice to find a forum thread that is actually helpful |

OK, cool. And you tried just re-installing the launcher from http://cdn1.eveonline.com/EveOnlineLauncher/release/EVEOnlineLauncher_2_1_655130.exe ? Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

The icon is not responsible for switching between DX9 and DX11, the icon is responsible for opening the settings dialog where you can switch. Personally I have no idea if there is another way to switch, sorry.
Also, since the log file says that the settings window opened just fine, the only thing I could imagine would be some esoteric issue with a 3rd party software on your system interfereing with our embedded browser. Any chance of that? (-; Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |
