Ashala Arcsylver wrote:I downloaded the rubicon update and logged in with no issues, did some mining for a bit with 2 accounts logged in, then the game first froze on one account then the other. went to log back in with one account and had an update to the launcher.
Now all I get after I log into the launcher and click play is a black screen. I can still select things but no idea what I am selecting, the game will log in fine, I can hear the music etc just fine, but a black screen is all I get.
This is on the Mac client, on a retina Macbook pro running OSX 10.9
Tried deleting and redownloading a clean client. Same problem.
There was no Mac launcher update with Rubicon. What version is your launcher reporting that it is running? Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

First of all: Correcting myself, CCP Atropos informed me that a Mac update also went out. I thought it were only the DirectX 11 changes for Windows that we deployed today, but obviously I was wrong. Sorry about that!
On towards troubleshooting your problem: If you right-click the EVE Online.app and select "Show Package Contents", then navigate in the opening Finder window to "Contents" -> "Resources" -> "cache" you should find a file named something like "launcher.2013.11.19.log". If you could upload that file to a place like http://www.pastebin.com and link me to it, then I could take a look at it to see if something is obviously broken.

This really should not be two different log files, so that seems weird. However, according to the log files then the EVE client was started. Do I assume correctly you have also tried rebooting your machine to rule out any old processes hanging about that might interfere? Have rebooted twice, shut down all other running programs etc. The launcher works just fine, but as soon as I click log In and it switches to the actual client all I get is a black screen with sound. Just tried to log in again and noticed that unlike before the update to rubicon that the launcher program is not closing when the game client launches and instead is staying active in the dock. After I begin to get sound in the game client with the black screen the launcher icon only shows the option to force quit. Sounds like something is hanging with the launcher or something.
Interesting observation. Maybe it's hanging because the EVE client start up takes a bit longer? We have not received anyone else observing this behaviour so I would rule out a general issue with this. I am trying to get hold of some of our more Mac affine engineers and testers to see if there are ways to get more debugging information from the EVE client itself (since it should be started according to the launcher logs). Ashala Arcsylver wrote:I may have found the problem!!!
I went into the settings on the launcher and changed the setting to keep the launcher open to make it close the launcher once the client launches and it launched the game perfectly!
Hope this fixes it. Thanks for your help CCP Aporia!
So now the EVE client starts? Weird, that shouldn't have any influence on this. Maybe you kept it running during today's deployment which would explain some issues? But I hope it works for you now, sorry for the inconvenience! Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

If the client actually starts but is black screening, then it is of vital importance to get a logserver log. Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |
