Before or after Rubicon? Launcher capacity has been reduced from 1.2 to 0.282. 80 missiles was huge comparing to only 18 and even more volleys lost due to higher RoF.. |

RLML are pretty much nonsense now if you intend on using them for smallscale / solo, but then again with the Depot now, you might actually put a rack of them into your cargo, so when all the people see you've been using HAMs and bring 3-4 frigs to screw you, you just have RLML now and **** them.
Aside from that, i can see how a flock of 30-40 or so from these can work in major fleet fights, where they start skirmishing. Warpin, blast targets with 40k volley every 2 seconds, once everyone is empty and starts reloading, you bounce to a ping, look for a new warpin, and when you land there you will probably be ready to go again. The reloadingtime IS an issue if you want to switch damagetypes, so you maybe should pick a main dmg type to shoot (Use Cerbs, take Scourge all the time).

The Ancillary mechanic is fine... they just have to tweak the numbers.
25 missiles per clip... 30 second reload... 5 second timer to change damage types...
But the fact that they release the RLML with these stats is pathetic. Especially when Rise said that changing damage types was a problem, but they'll look at it Soon(tm). |

I think 28 m/c and 30 seconds reload you'll get almost the same sustained damage as before, which would be kinda... OP with current RoF numbers. 22-23 missiles/clip is much more balanced I'd say. |

Well they need to up the missile count by a few. Even 2-5 missiles more would be decent. so a 20-23 clip size.
The reload timer, can be tweaked. I just took 25% off the reload.
And damage selection really needs to be tweaked. |

18 shots before reload is ridiculous. Sat trying to kill a crow the other night and ran out trying to kill him. Luckily he failed to keep me pointed and i was able to warp away. I would get his shields down low, but with ancil booster, i had to reload before he did and i the damage done was repped back up and I warped back in to try and kill him off. Was trying to save a corp mate before ceptors fleet came in.
2nd time was the same result. Out of ammo before he had to reload his charges. Its a garbage weapon system. All because a few faction warfare whiners couldnt deal with a ship and a weapon system to kill frigs, so they complained till CCP of course caves in. Nerf the weapon system to make the babies happy. Same happened to the drake which went fine for years with heavy missiles, then people found a good use for them and boohoo..Heavies got nerfed and now they are garbage compared to other weapons. Im still waiting to be able to alpha a frig with a missile ship like guns cans...

RIP all missile skills really...
CCP just likes to mess with missile toons and that's the way it is. It is too risky to train into missile skills compared to any other weapon type....end up just wasting skill time.

With missiles, you also have missile support skills, which will work towards all missiles. Where for guns, you should have Tech 2 guns just because of the application Tech 2 Ammo offers. With missiles, you're fine most of the time shooting faction ammo. The Meta variations of missiles also only offer more rate of fire, the damage you deal per volley stays the same. With Turrets and reskilling, you can do those 3 weeks or so with meta guns, yeah, sure, but you should totally look into getting it to Tech2 asap if you intend to use that system often! For missiles, you're set with skill to 4 for long time. You'll shoot faction ammo most of the time anyways. |

I've had a couple of go's at using RLMLs since and my attitude has softend a little.
In the Caracal example you can split launchers to sustain your dps for longer, and you can pre-load with say mjolnir for first set and nova for second set. Need to keep auto-reload off to change ammo as situation dictates but I had a nice 1v3 fight using this approach.
RLML was a little bit easymode before and I still could do with capacity being a little higher just to let launcher groups overlap slightly more but I do get why they made changes. |

CCP nerfs all Missiles enough that i just won't skill them anymore and plan to sell the missile toons I have. It's just disappointing to invest that much effort into a weapon system and have the designers just remove the value. They should just remove missiles entirely from the game and be done with them.. They were a bad idea to begin with, if they have to play take away all the time.
If a game designer sets up a game that requires months of training to use a weapon system effectively for WHATEVER purpose the game has in store for them, they should NOT nerf the weapon so much that it is no longer useable. ... think a little before you throw something in game. I thought that was why you had the test server. Don't introduce RLML at all if you're going to pull it in a year or whatever... poor game design really!
Truly I just love the space game thing, if there was ANY other game , I would just bail on this one.
Maybe Star Citizen will shine, but that's a few years...whatever... this game just is so dang short sighted it's frustrating.... Why no arena for regular PVP matchups... stupid sandbox argument. |
