Fixed the black bars AND the icons! We're moving along now!
You have to clear your cache to get your ship icons. |

Yes, it's been two updates since the patch. As of Friday, Nov. 22 at 10pm EST (in the US). My computer as well as many others are still hard (cold) freezing on load. The login page works fine, but when the actual game loads, I get just a few icons in the Neocon, then a deep freeze that can only be resolved with a cold reboot.
I tried changing all my video settings to Medium (which I did) but it didn't solve anything. This client worked fine before Rubicon.
PS. I have a 27" iMac with 8 gigs of ram and Rubicon is the most stable EVE i've had in a very long time. The laptop doesn't work at all. Go figure. Although the laptop is running Mavericks and the Desktop M-Lion.

Icons are still corrupted despite the 1.02 release.
And before CCP tells us we need to update our graphics drivers if they can tell us how on a Mac then that would be cool.
Although OS X 10.9.1 is in the works and apparently there is some work being done on the graphics so who knows.

It seems that I was clearing the cache from the wrong place.
I had done it from the Launcher like so many posts were saying but once I did it from within the game everything looks perfect again.
Thanks CCP. |

Today's patch for Mac has apparently fixed the "black bars when warping" issue; however, the game still causes the whole system to hang if you attempt to use anything other than "Low" setting for "Shader Quality" Another patch to the Mac game client this morning, but still no fix for the Shader Quality hang after selecting the character to use on start.
Yet another patch today, November 25, 2013, and still no resolution of the complete system hang when Shader Quality is set to "Medium".

Must be a Mavericks related problem.

This isn't OS related. It's hardware related.
You probably have a Mac that doesn't have Intel HD Graphics 3000.
You can probably upgrade to Mavericks without any problem, since you have an older Mac with different graphics -- that is if your Mac can even be upgraded to Mavericks. |

The position of the mouse is not recognised by EVE. Clicking the mouse button can open things and high light buttons suggesting that it thinks the mouse is in a totally different position to where it is shown on screen.
As a result the game is unplayable.

I have got an answer from CCP concerning the Medium Shader quality and the answer is a very bad news:
Quote:Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay in responding to this ticket. Unfortunately it appears that you will have to continue to have the 'Shader Quality' setting to low. The problem is that your graphics adapter is the very minimum that is supported and as such some quality will have to be sacrificed in order to run the game.
At least the situation is clear now for Intel HD Graphics 3000. |

Are you SERIOUS? This is an outrage! It's not like I can go and buy a new computer with each new UPDATE! I'm living off of Disability because I can't get and hold a job! I can understand upgrading the game a bit here and there, but to make it unplayable for those of us who can't afford to blow $100+ on a whim but still charges for the characters/accounts? That's CRAP! I'm quite pissed off! This is exactly why I stop playing Everquest and Star Wars Online. They kept upgrading the systems so that I could no longer have access. Now, this? I hate it when people do this crap! And now I have nothing I can do. I have spent nearly 10 hours a day playing Eve and you took this away from me. I hope you suffer greatly. The least they coud do is have a program on their site to tell us when our computers are outdated and what could be updated to get this working again. This would stop just buying new parts hoping that it'll make it work again. Sheesh! |

I get this behavior when I have command-tabbed over to a different application and then click back into the EVE window. I try to click in space first and then click on EVE buttons. On further thought, this also might be occurring to me when I click into a non-EVE window, and then the EVE client remembers what point the mouse left its window. And then if you command tab back in, if you try clicking on a button and not space first, it happens where the mouse left the window, which for me is somewhere odd on the Neocom. |

Update: Ok. I was finally able to log in again but at a very high price. I had to set my Mac back to factory settings. However, the socket disconnect error is still occurring. I'm much more patient with it now that before. However, it's still very bothersome. I'm not exactly pleased that I had to go to such extremes in order to alleviate the problem with very irritating side effects. This problem still arising after a full system reset only means that the problem is not with my Mac, but with Eve itself.
After spending about 10 days unable to log in at all then another 3 days backing everything up and another day of factory resetting, I'm exhausted with all the anxiety this has caused. The problem being on their end means that we're not at fault nor should we have to do drastic measures in order to access services we are paying for.
With all that said, it feels good to be back online with Eve even with the socket disconnect problem. But I don't have to like it. |

I have an attached 27" Display that I would love to stretch the game onto but cant - no setting for that resolution (5300x1440 fullscreen), no ability to resize from window mode like some Windoze guys do. I can do things like use the native OS zoom but since that just 'stretches' things in all directions its no longer hidef.

1) Are you playing in windowed mode? 2) Are you playing in fullscreen and CMD + Tab'ing? 3) What is the specification of your machine? 4) What version of OS X are you using?
Lastly if some of you could make bug reports with cider logs, it would help me greatly. CCP Konflikt Quality Assurance Engineer Team Trilambda
I do not use Clone Maker But I do multi Log-in using same EVE Online Launcher. These Graphical Freezes, Unresponsiveness, Closed Sockets, Page Faults occur regardless if I am running one client or multi clients. One Client session might experience the issues while other client sessions are unaffected.
Now I want to try to clarify some terminology for CCP/GM and the End Users to try to narrow down what is actually happening. Many of these GÇ£freezingGÇ¥ an End User might call:
- Graphical Freeze = meaning the Video has locked up in game client but the MAC is still usable. Character is still in Game Probably getting killed. (Control-Alt-Esc > Kill Process).
- Unresponsive Freeze = Cant not type, Click, change directions or open Windows in Game. Character is still in game Probably getting killed. (Control-Alt-Esc > Kill Process).
- Semi-Unresponsive = You can type, open windows, show info, BUT nothing updates and can no longer navigate. Can not Quit Client for a Large Number of Minutes (Appears to be GÇ£HangingGÇ¥). User may not realize the Client is not updating when sitting in station for a Large number of Minutes. (Socket Closed or internet interrupted, but Client does not recognize this state and you may never see the Socket Closed pop up window.) (Character is no longer in game and could have gotten killed.) This one Also Can Cause the need to reboot the MAC to clear its EVE state even if you kill the processes. Can prevent Client from Launching. (Control-Alt-Esc > Kill Process & if needed reboot).
- Closed Socket = Client recognizes Lost of Connection to CCP. Quit Client. Rare occasions may have to kill process.
- Page Fault = OS pop up warning. I am not an expert and do not know what this means. Some People think it means a Hard Drive maybe failing as one possible cause. How ever My HD passes all Tests including permissions. My System Memory Passes all Test. (Sometimes after closing the Page fault message Box I can still play other times it closes the Eve Client.)
- Apple Detects Serious Error = OS pop up warning. I do not know what could be the cause. I have copied Logs and Debug report. Causes the EVE Client to Close.
I stagger my Windowed mode clients and can just click between them in window, Top Bar, or Dock. I do not CMD + Tab. I run my Clients at the Lowest graphical settings possible, lower than for performance presets. My Monitors run at 2560 x 1600 while the Clients are set at 1920 x 1440.
I am now using the command line to create Cider Logs and this requires that I create multi Logs, so I am using this running multi Terminals with different log names in Numerical order of launching so I have multi logs one for each Client. (See below for Command Line.)
For Control-Alt-Shift-M evelogs, there is no option to rename the logs for multi clientsGǪ SO for this I can only obtain evelogs for one client at a time. There is not even an Option to save these to a different location. I assume because eve-online runs in a version of wine makes it so you can not save them outside of the Virtual environment, but I would still like to relocate the Logs and save multi logs by name/date/time.log.
Wine & DirectX: Many of my Control-Alt-Shift-M evelogs appear to indicate Graphical issuesGǪ I have read of the Forums that Window users have had many DX11 DX9 issues. CCP / GMs have stated that MAC does not use Direct X. I think this maybe part of the Issues since EVE is running on Wine which uses Windows API and Wine supports Direct X 9c. Unfortunately MAC Launcher does not have a DX option in the settings like Windowed clients. (Do not tell me CCP and Developers do not make errors.) What does CCP say about installing DirectX via winetricks, winebottler or wineskin?

Bug Reporting Website: I can not send my Screenshots, Logs, Zipped from the Bug report Website as it states that I can as long as I am below file size limits. When attempting to send the files attached I get a 500 Internal Server Error Every time. I have filed many bug reports in game but I can not send files from in game except for active in game issues Meaning you do not get the APPLE application CRASH Logs or the debug logs.

I am running both Snow Leopard and Maverick. Maverick was clean installed on new drive 2014-02-02 and Downloaded Eve Online for a Clean installation: eve-premium_008261_710875-mac.dmg. http://community.eveonline.com/support/download/
Mavericks Installation: created new issues and kept the older issues based on the Logs. The Main New issues appear to be Created beginning Lion and affecting Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks.
Noticed: /Applications/EVE Online.app has an X Right-Click and GÇ£Show ContentsGÇ¥, Can Browse. Double-Click EVE Online.app, Message popup: GÇ£EVE Online.appGÇ¥ is damaged and canGÇÖt be opened. You should move it to the Trash.
I found an EVE Sticky: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=316715&find=unread Which blames APPLEGÇÖs Gatekeeper: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5290
It appears that CCP needs to acquire a GÇ£Developer IDGÇ¥ for Eve Online from APPLE. According to APPLEGÇÖs Support I should be able to Open an App from an unidentified developer by pressing GÇ£ControlGÇÖ > GÇ£OpenGÇ¥, This did not work. So I tried to run command line from Terminal according to APPLEGÇÖs GÇ£man spctlGÇ¥ command: spctl --add --label "EVE" /Applications/EVE\ Online.app Typed in Password. Still did not work.
Changing System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Allow apps downloaded From: GÇ£Mac App Store and Identified DevelopersGÇ¥ to: GÇ£AnywhereGÇ¥, Works but defeats Protections for other circumstances.
For further Testing, Changed Back to: GÇ£Mac App Store and Identified DevelopersGÇ¥
Cider: In Terminal I wanted to run Cider Logging as indicated in the Mac Bug Reporting site: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Mac_bug_reporting#Generating_Cider_Logs
Quote: /Applications/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/Resources/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS/cider --debugmsg +seh,+tid,+module,+debugstr --cmdline=" /server:87.237.38.200" &> ~/Desktop/2014-02-02-EVEcrashlog01-AccountName-Session01.log Was able to run using above Cider command after changing back to GÇ£Mac App Store and Identified DevelopersGÇ¥. This appears to by-pass the Launcher and loads EVE Online the Old way.
For Multi Clients run the line several times but change then log name for each account you run. Example: Format: Year-Month-Day-EVEcrashlog##-AccountName-Session##.log Account 01, 2014-02-02-EVEcrashlog01-AccountName-Session01.log Account 02, 2014-02-02-EVEcrashlog01-AccountName-Session04.log
Note: If you log out and back in without crashing like changing chars on same account the session## changes not the Crashlog##.
I prefer outputting this log file to a different /Volume for Hard Drive performance reasons and they get very Large. A USB drive works Great.
F-Keys, Alt-F-Keys, Ctrl-F-Keys do not work. Had to Open System Preferences > Keyboard and check box Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys. F-Keys, Alt-F-Keys now work in game except Ctrl-F-Keys. Guess all my passive modules go on the low while the rest can be on Mid and High racks.
Hardware Overview:
- Model Name: Mac Pro - MacPro3,1
- Processor: 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
- Memory: 10 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
- Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4870 512 MB
- DELL3007WFPHC: 2560 x 1600
- Software: OS X 10.9.1 (13B42) MAVERICKS
Off Topic but would be Nice: I would Like to Upgrade my Video Card, But would need to figure out How to get the EFI Bios to recognize the Newer Video Cards. I tested a ATI 6870 just to see what would happen, without changing the Video Cards Bio. I lose all of the EFI Boot Options but it will still boot up. Apple does not ID the Video Card correctly. Tested a Windows Boot and it does recognize the Video Card and allows me to update Drivers. For the Apple OS X, I probably could import and compile a Linux version to BSD but this would not fix the EFI boot up issue, so I removed the Card till a time I was able to get extra good information on this solution. I am willing to test. (Contact me In Game for the off topic issue.)

Another Note About Apple GateKeeper:
GÇ£Mac App Store and Identified DevelopersGÇ¥
"Anywhere"
You only need to set the:
System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Allow apps downloaded From: GÇ£Mac App Store and Identified DevelopersGÇ¥ to: GÇ£AnywhereGÇ¥
for the first run. Once you have successfully launched Launcher you can change it back to GÇ£Mac App Store and Identified DevelopersGÇ¥. all other runs should work without the Message popup: GÇ£EVE Online.appGÇ¥ is damaged and canGÇÖt be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

Same.
I can log on and get a black screen instead of the character selection.
I thought I could start, using window mode but now, it's even worse I have to start the computer with a hard reboot.
