Now I do not want WoW pvp scenarios, where players have nothing to loose. But would you do pvp (or more pvp) if the insurance was "better"...? If my pilot is certain to face death... I want full ramming speed towards the enemy ship...

People don't PVP because it isn't harsh enough, 25% more harsh = 25% more PVP
If you want lots of PVP you need to add lots of Harsh. |

Coming from someone whos Catalysts don't get insurance payouts for some reason, I can tell you that insurance payouts have very little sway on the amount of 'PvP' im involved in.
I also haven't insured a ship in years, don't fly what you cannot afford to lose. Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

There was a time when insurance was "better."
It was so good in fact that people actually built and self destructed their own ships for PROFIT!
Todays Tech 1 insurance values are just barely under what it would take to be profitable like before.
And Tech 2, Faction, Tech 3, and Pirate insurance values were never meant to be profitable (as an added "penalty" for using a ship that has extra "edges"). Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

Personally I dont insure my ships. Because the modules cost more than the hull...

i still find it entertaining that platinum insurance pays out more on a super capital then it does on a titan, when a titan is alot more isk thne a supercapital |

What's wrong with the way it works now?
If it was "better", then insurance would be over the value of the item and that durn don' make no sense ya'll

How do you make that statement add up? Take for example a Mining Barge - Retriever: Ship costs 25mill on market. Maximum payout is 6.187.709.00 isk And adding modules does not affect the platinum cost or payout...
Am I missing some info here?

I find that when I'm deciding what to fly, I ignore the insurance payout when considering the cost of the ship. So it wouldn't affect me. |

I feel like it is a Jinx to buy insurance on my PvP pilot ...
.. go out expecting to die ? not me!
...well I do die ...cause we're looking for a fight and ...well sometimes those good fights are too good to be true..
But still.. you have to believe you'll win them all !
(on a more rational note... there are so many different kinds of fleets and "docs" that there is a pretty good chance that some of the 3 month periods would go by and the insurance lapse . Depends on whether it is a ship you take out all the time.) . |

I see insurance in a pvp ship as a sure investment, that ship in pvp have 99% chance of being blown up and you have 100% chance that if it does, ur investment will pay back extra isk, good deal, I pvp with something I can afford to lose, and win a little isk in end, is a win win situation |

people that need an incentive that would make it easier to recoup losses, to aid them to do something that only makes sense if those loses can be inflicted on others, or would carry the risk of suffering them themselves, need to go back to wow.
this is eve and things have a price tag on them, that price is time, insurance is already a gross intervention on the Sandbox, if anything it should be removed completely. |

Well everything (?) has a solution in EvE. I assume one can do like the pirates, and pick the fights one can win. Start the career by killing criminal tagged pods in hisec...
