Originally by: Sasha l'Amoureux Aye, we had some fun tonight. Just started working as a pirate myself, and I thought I was doing pretty well... Turns out, drones ate my beautiful little Incursus for lunch. Fortunately, I got it for cheap, and insured it high Even after losing the mods on it I still came out a few thousand ahead. But thanks for the learning experience! We'll have another go at it in a few days, hmm?
yes, maybe by then I'll have a few more drone skills too hehehe ;) You guys are good sports. Wish there were more players like that.

Congratulations on the Megathron kill. Medium rails on a Mega... Funny that he tried to snipe you with them from 85k.
Although I shouldnt admit to this, I do some pirating with the alt in a Punisher, and I have taken out a Prophecy solo (pirating with the alt is what gives me respect for pirates, and equally makes me a good anti-pirate type on this, my main :P)
Its really quite tough to find a good amount of targets though, most 0.1-0.4's near empire are just full of other pirates killing each other.

It sounds like Anti AntiPirate is pretty good, but, I'm skepitcal that most of this is the truth, but I won't flame you for it. I think -if- you did make these kills your a player with PvP potential.

Dude, use your loaf. the player behind the character clearly knows more about PVP than a 7-8 day old character should
great experiment though.

If that killmail is true it only shows why newbie players shouldn't use battleships. I am actually surpriced that he managed to kill one of you.
Bad setups 4tl.

That is exactly what it means. That is why we went for the kill. The instant I saw him in a battleship, I knew he had nowhere near the skills to be flying one. I think he flew it cause he thought he would be "invicible" from us, since he was in a battleship. I fully went into the fight expecting to lose a ship, due to the low kills points my character has. The reason he killed me is because I was webbed, and had 6 medium guns on me (a motly assortment as seen on podbase/battleclinic), and low tanking skills, so I was going to die. As I said before, I dont have many skill points, under 400k, so there really wasnt much I could do. Even having kin/thermal hardeners fitted, I couldnt tank forever, I ran out of cap, therefore was unable to rep the damage anymore. And also being such low skilled characters, we simply couldnt put out the dps to take down the battleship before he took out my cruiser. He has almost, 5x the total hp, meaning we would have to do 5x the damage he was doing to me.

...
As for shooting you and not your friend, you were closer when I warped in. Additionally, your friend didn't come to your aid. How much of a friend is that? Have your friend come back and I'll shoot him down too if it makes you feel better. :)

What's podbase? Some automated database that provides details for every kill in eve? Or do I have to manually enter every killmail? Additionally,if I have to manually enter the information, what good is it, if anyone can forge Killmails?
There isn't any "evidence" of my kills because I haven't been putting any killmails on any lists. I figured I'd save my targets the embarrasment. Regardless, I'll look into it.

it is true, i spoke to the mega pilot in question, quai. It would be impressive if quai were actually a good pilot, which he isnt. And I would be impressed if the people making the kill weren't such ***hats. I was doing anti-pirating around decon with quai, pumpkin bread and his fruit of doom corp are fun to kill. They are a bunch of noob outlaws in cruisers. I podded/killed several of their ships in a cruiser so they called in friends in battleships. They could only take me out 5 to one. These guys are disgrace to pirating plus their lame smacktalk where they let slip tactical information. sad.

Ah yes, here comes Yonos, with the smacktalk in tow. Yes, Quai is a crap pilot. He wouldn't be minus one Mega if he wasnt looking to 'exact revenge' on some 'noob pirates' for killing his Brutix earlier (which was stabbed to hell and back). The rest of your statement about podding and killing Fruit, I can't confirm or deny. I don't however see how your opinion of myself for any of Fruit affects the accomplishment, however minor, given the Mega pilots ineptitude. And IMO smack is tolerable in local, but a waste of time on the forums. Post something constructive rather than just badmouthing people.
In regard to your anti-pirating efforts, there sure are a lot of pirates in Decon lately. Maybe you should come on back and lay down the law? Some corp called Fatalix is trying to at the moment, but as far as I know, they haven't stopped any pirates from doing any pirating and/or shot any of them down since they've been there. They are capable of putting together some very pretty gate camps, even if they can't stop anyone from getting through a gate. It looks good at least.

What's your impression of the Ruppie Vs. your Vexor setup; I'm interested in getting your viewpoint on that. Also, why did you use cruisers on both trial accounts instead of going for pirating frigs at somepoint?

Originally by: Pakchoi What's your impression of the Ruppie Vs. your Vexor setup; I'm interested in getting your viewpoint on that. Also, why did you use cruisers on both trial accounts instead of going for pirating frigs at somepoint?
I've used frigs for quite a while, I have a 'pirate' alt on my main account and used an Incursus with him for quite a few weeks. My main has all four frig skills and I'm pretty familiar with the more effective setups for each type.
My whole idea was to see just how far I could take a trial account, with respect to overall combat effectiveness, given the time limitations and skillpoint limitations, and each races ship designs. So that's why the cruisers. You do bring up the point of whether or not it might be more effective to spend the time purely focusing on developing all skills towards frigate combat, vs. diluting your training time training up cruiser skills etc.
As for the Vexor vs. the Rupture, IMO the Vexor is a *much* stronger ship given the extremely limited time/skillpoints. The Rupture has really started to come into it's own later in the trial. As my trial winds down, it's getting better and better as my skills mature.
With the Vexor, I was able to reach critical mass with respect to skills a few days earlier, but after that, my firepower and effectiveness leveled off, as the next big jump in effectiveness/firepower required training Drones to level 5, which was out of my reach time-wise.
I think that the Rupture may achieve a higher peak performance right at the end of the trial, but the Vexor reaches a higher performance level faster, and then flattens out due to skilling times etc.
Considering the low skill points required, the Vexor is an increadable combat platform given the games current balance and design. It has a few key advantages that set it apart from the rest of the ships in the game.
So does that help a bit?

Yeah, noticed that too. He doesn't talk like a new character, pretty obviously not new, but a good example of how a newly created char can still pvp vs older players... shows why eve > wow.
Hmmm wondering who his main is now... very familiar writing style too... I almost wanna say Sarmaul but nahh

Uh yeah. In case I wasn't completely clear at the beginning, I'm not a 'new' player. I'm not that experienced by any means, having my main char about 3 months or so. I just made a trial account to experiment with ideas and concepts and to test what combinations work the best. That, and I was bored while skilling my learning skills on my main.
So will that stop all the "you're lying" posts? I'm not a complete noob. Never said I was a new player.

with so many people backing up his claims how can you say that his posts are higly dubious?
there are always idiots in the game, such as that megathron you killed, who are ripe for the picking. (or perhaps he lagged out/froze as i do often at the worst possible times)

I am very impressed with the rupture, I fought one the other day as part of a gang fight. I was in a Blackbird and the rupture was averaging hits between 3-400 dmg and he even got a 733.3 wrecking shot on me and i'm like wtf, its a cruiser

Took down a Thorax this morning, and shortly there after, a Rifter, with the help of a Caracal. My buddies Caracal definitely made it faster, but I think the Rupture would have still killed it.
^5s to my Caracal buddy for helping :)

I hope not because I find these accounts very entertaining and helpful. I'd raise a hand for Caldari if you were taking nominations.
