OK, I've just got me a nice shiny Tempest and now I want to take it out for a walk. Trouble is at 90 mill, I probably need to insure it first, after all, there are some nasty people out there..
The base level for a Tempest is 5.5 million a week which returns 55 million in cover. This is still 35 million away from buying a new one but as I'm sure you'll know, the increase in level is nasty for less return...
So, I'm looking for advice on insurance levels... what have you insured yours for?

basic is best, covers the cost of the minerals usually.. or most of it

Basic. 5.8 M/week I think, but seriously... If you go with platinum insurance, you'll pay 5 times as much to get 30 million more when you blow the ship up. Insure the ship for 3 weeks and you have wasted enough money to Pend Insurance Inc. that you could instead have gotten yourself another ship.

I think insurance work very good.
If you have enough money to buy a battleship, you surely has enough to get the basic insurance too. And with a battleship you'll make so much money that the weekly cost is not an issue.
Obviously, the most expensive insurance is only to be bought if you really expect to loose your ship in the next days.

insurance cost indeed is not a big problem for bs owner, but do you realize in about 3-4 weeks that cost can buy you another bs?

Well, not the "basic" one, since it would take at least 15 weeks... But as I said, the more expensive insurance is only if you really expect to loose your ship.

Not at all. 10 weeks.
If you read the thread or check in the game, you'll find it's a 10x multiplier.
For his tempest, the basic costs 5.5 millions and the payout if he gets destroyed is 55 millions.

my bad then, I remember it's about 1/4 cost for pay out.

Basic is 5.x - 5x millions yes, but the platinum (best) is about 30M/week for a payout of 105 or similar. Basic is worth it, platinum isn't.
