Hello everyone.
I was recently on the ships channel having a chat about 2 hulk mining barges I currently have sitting in a hangar , that I never have time to use any more. Rather than sell them off, I have decided to rent them out. If all goes well , I will add more rental ships to the fleet.
Unfortunately, due to their expensive costs, they will of course require a bond or security. If one was to choose the cash direction, the amount for deposit would be 515 million isk. In terms of securities, each case would need to present their cases individually.
Now, while you hold the barge/s they are your responsibility. Take them to 0.0 or lowsec if you choose, however if they perish, the deposit is non-refundable. Damage is also the loanee's responsibility to repair.
Now, each Hulk Mining Barge will come fitted with the following
* 3 Modulated Deep Core Strip Miner II * 6 Tritanium Mining Crystal II's * 6 Scordite Mining Crystal II's * 6 Plagioclase Mining Crystal II's * 1 small shield booster * 1 thermal / 1 kinetic shield hardener (named) * 1 cap recharger I * 2 Mining Laser Upgrade module I's
You can re-outfit the ships in any way that you like, as long as they return with the modules given (with the exception of the mining crystals, they come free to keep with the package).
Now, for your security deposit, you get the Hulk, and the modules, all ready to mine the second you undock.
Pricing
Hulk Daily Costs = 10 million isk Hulk Weekly Costs = 38 million isk
Rent both Hulks for one day = 15 million isk Rent both Hulks for one week = 60 million isk
Now, these costs are to be paid in advance. Therefore, if you claim a Hulk for a 1 week period, in total you will be paying 515+38 = 553 million isk. Upon return of the hulk intact with modules still fitted, you will recieve your 515 million isk back.
With the exception of mining crystals, missing modules will be charged if not replaced. These charges will simply be market value. The main modules requiring replacing obviously being the t2 strips.
Here are my terms and conditions. Please contact me either here or online for further information or to book a Hulk. As of this moment two of the ships are available for immediate deployment. ------------------------------------------ Dreadnought Production INC is recruiting Join DPI Channel Or Visit (IGB) http://www.mmorpg-online.net/intro.html |

couldn't people just buy a hulk for 500mil, mine for a week, and resell at the end if they dnt want it for longer?

They could do, but that would mean finding buyers etc, and waiting days-weeks for the Hulk to sell. In my case the barge is simply escrowed back to me at deposit price once the person has finished their rental period. No hassles, and easy to get started mining. Great for mining ops, and corps wanting to crank out some production to build big ships.
There will be cheaper costs for repeat customers, including both deposit and rental costs, and the deposit will drop as the market does. With the option of a security, this means that ie a player with a CN Raven can use his raven to back the barges if he wants to spend a week getting some cash together to get back into pvp/missions etc, without having to commit to a sale. ------------------------------------------ Dreadnought Production INC is recruiting Join DPI Channel Or Visit (IGB) http://www.mmorpg-online.net/intro.html |

Good ideer, but to expensive. The extra 15% mining you can do in one of those, arent worth paying 10mill a day for ill say. You gotta mine for 2-3 hours jsut to pay you off, and then you can start mining for yourself.

What kind of pricing would you suggest? 2 of these hulks mines the equivalent (full skills) of close to 3.7 covetor maxed out barges. What kind of pricing do you people think would be appreciated by the players?

I think it`s a great ideea, for a person that has a mining alt and gets some time off pvp to mine it`s very usefull. 10 mil per days is nothing compared to what profit u make mining in 0.0, getting them there in one piece is the trixie part

Yeh. Will hold off on pricing changes for the moment, will see if we get any interest in the matter. Regardless of above, pricing is an issue I am willing to barter on, however the deposit is something I have to be really carefull with.
For every day the barges are out of service, I could hypothetically be making cash off them, so at the very least to get the ball rolling , I am more than happy to take offers in regards to the rentals until we get established.
Now, due to the fact that escrow isnt exactly the best way to do 1 day rentals (ie customer claiming escrow as soon as I place it, and then dumping it precisely 24 hours is not feasible).
The way I am thinking of, is for 1 day rentals, to allow a 1 day give/take period. This means that I place a 1 day escrow to the person claiming the rental. From the end of that 24 hour period (escrow), i will have a 24 hour period imposed on that. This would ultimately allow a person to get 2 days out of a 1 day rental if they were to claim asap.
Like I said, I am flexible on rentals, and definetly open to suggestions, as always when starting a new venture that hasnt been seen before in Eve(which seems to happen at least once a month). ------------------------------------------ Dreadnought Production INC is recruiting Join DPI Channel Or Visit (IGB) http://www.mmorpg-online.net/intro.html |

2-3 hours? really? I can make 2M an hour mining Veldspar in a Scythe. And this thing can do 3 times that. So, yeah, mining Veldspar, it'll take you 1 hour and 40 minutes to pay the rental. That sounds damned reasonable to me.

Hi guys, due to large request I have slashed my prices by close to 30%. Remember, that with a 1 day rental, if you claim it as I place the escrow, you are in essence getting 2 days of service, for the price of one
So with a 1 day rental on a barge, you need to pay 3.5m a day to keep it for that 1 day period. Who will be my first customer? ------------------------------------------ Dreadnought Production INC is recruiting Join DPI Channel Or Visit (IGB) http://www.mmorpg-online.net/intro.html |

bump for my product. Lets get the ball rolling guys. The first 2 rentals (ie both barges in service) will be given for 4 million isk / day, or 18 million isk / week.
If someone decides to take up my #1 lucky customer deal and take both barges at once, I am willing to drop the price a little more ------------------------------------------ Dreadnought Production INC is recruiting Join DPI Channel Or Visit (IGB) http://www.mmorpg-online.net/intro.html |

Very nice deal :D Wish I thought of that
Though only problem I see is the deposit as most miners don't have 500mill to spare :( And renting out without the deposit is just plain stupid. Hope you get this off the feet :) ----------

free bump for a great idea...for what it is worth, I agree with the above poster...most miners who would have the skills for this likely don't have 500 mil for deposit. But you have to protect investment, so not sure how you would solve it. Great idea though

Great idea, been thinking about doing the same myself earlier in my time on EVE. Only problem i had was the one that was pointed out to you by the two previous posters: cash for security deposit..
Who has 500 mill lying around? And if they do, AND they have all those mining skills. Why dont they buy their OWN hulk..?
So lets hope the contract system that comes into play in the next patch/update will help rentals like this become practically possible. Because the idea is great, and seeing this thread made me smile

Edited by: Mesasone on 27/02/2006 08:02:42 I think the people who are complaining about the security deposit are looking at this the wrong way. Putting 500m down on the deposit is not the same as actually have 500m of your own.
Heres how I see it: 5 guys want to make some cash. They have access to 0.0 space with high end ores; crokite, bistot or arkonor. They each pool together roughly 220m to rent both of the barges for a week, which is pretty reasonable in my opinion. Now, they transport both of the barges out to where ever they have prospected to mine, two of them running the barges, one hauling to a POS or station, and the other two running protection. They spend the next week mining, bringing in billions in high end minerals. Return the barges, each get their portion of the security deposit back. And split the proceeds of the mining op to walk away with mucho cash.
Also, it would take over four months straight (assuming 28m a week) of renting one of these barges for it equal the cost of buying one. Which makes this a great option for people who are not full time miners, but rather only occaisonally mine to finance PVP, or their PVP main.
Anyway, great idea and a free bump

Thanks for the support guys.
I think a lot of people are looking at this the wrong way. While the deposit may seem a little steep, it is just a deposit. Not to mention that I am happy to accept securities instead of isk. Majority of our players over 6-9 months old are bound to hold at least 500m worth of assets. Here is an opportunity to "hock" your asset, in order to loan one of my products.
Once you finish with the product, regain your prized assets, as I will reclaim mine, and you can leave knowing that you have made cash without needing to actually sell all of your assets, not to mention the fact that you can brag to your friends that you used the most powerfull by far mining ship in the game. ------------------------------------------ Dreadnought Production INC is recruiting Join DPI Channel Or Visit (IGB) http://www.mmorpg-online.net/intro.html |

Sorry mate i will stick with my covetor fitted with 2 beta hull cargo expanders( 6200 m3). Making on a good day between 24-30 million with it 7-8 hours mining and watching Tv and eating at the same time. Never going to pay or rent a "HULK" for 300-500 million ISK`s.
Not worth it.

You're not renting it for 500M, you're renting it for 3M a day. The 500M is just a deposit that you get back when you return the ship. He has to protect his investment, doesn't someone walking off with a dirt cheap Hulk.
The problem I see with the whole thing is that someone who can FLY a Hulk and HAS 500M, is probably just going to buy one in the first place.

i can fly one aswell as buy one, however this guy provides people wit hthe opportunity for a testdrive, which you hardly ever get the chance for with these expensive t2 ships. Too bad its too much of a hassle to get it safely in and out of .0 space otherwise i would have definately have a go at this :)
