Yes that was my thoughts, get lined up, hit your ECM, warp off.
Will try it out with some buds when I get teh chance.
AFAIK, they just break the lock; they don't keep the other guy jammed. Good against a BS (long relock time, plus the "WTF" effect adds a few secs), but not good against drones (don't get confused, relock almost instantly)
Havent tested them lately, mind you, so if you do, keep us posted!

They just break the lock, yes. They have been looked at in the blood patch as the new jamming skills know work for them. ____________________________________ Free ISP users, read this if you have connections problems [b]I'm on Eris side! |

incorrect - they have a 30 second cycle time, but they don't keep the target jammed for that amount of time. basically, all they do is break existing target locks. they can simply relock you straight away.

When you're testing this out in Empire, be aware that it's now an aggro act. Don't know where this got changed but when the activation cost was still lower, you could play with it without a problem in empire.
I lost my badger this way during a test with my alt. It did break lock on my alt and Concord did waste my badger I would say they tend to work fine.

use it when your tackled by frigs.
Align for warp while jammed, once at warp speed hit the burst and before he has a chance to relock you(he will most likely think hes jammed) you can simply hit the warp out button.
If your webbed too that it doesn't work because when you burst the web will go off and your max speed changes. By the time you reach your new warp out speed he will have relocked you and webbed you once again. ******************** Wolven Elite Guard is recruiting

gah, not what i thought it did then (the breaking lock not keeping jammed thing)
still, it does sound like a good last attempt to get away if ure in the wrong ship at the wrong time. i have one on one of my t2 frigs, it has just about enough cap to fire one burst then get the hell away. will have to do some testing to see if my idea will ever work.
oh, and word to the wise. be carefull even in 0.0 with them. had a friend fried by a stations sentry guns cos the burst aggroes the station like a wee ecm burst is ever gonna mess with a station anyway... ECM Burst is another case of:
"If it ain't broke, change it so it mildly annoys the playerbase"
Pre-ECM overhaul patch, they worked perfectly. Post ECM overhaul patch, they were broken and have been broken for the last 10 months.
But because its not a popular I-win button module, nobody, including CCP gives a hairy rats arse.

Thats nice. Claim it was broken but fail to give any specifics. You could have kept that uninformative post.
As long as I have been in Eve people have claimed the ECM Burst does not work. This is mostly due to their testing against NPC that insta-re-lock your ship, giving the appearance of it not working.

Your friend was in Empire 0.0 then. There are no Sentry guns around stations in true 0.0.

Hmmm so only breaks lock... With strength of ~6 I don't see it doing much vs anything bigger than a frig sized ship. Which as you say can easily relock most times before you could warp out 'specially as with a ~240 cap usage it's in the realm of cruiser or bigger ships. Well I'll give it a test when I can but the more I hear the less useful they sound.... Bugger.

Man, if these actually were made useful I would love to use them on my Stabber or Blasterthron..
Perhaps they could be the secret module that brings the Blasterthron back :D

Really? Did you mean to say there are no sentry guns around *gates* in true 0.0? Because the stations I have visited do have sentry guns around them. And people do get shot down. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |

Edited by: Vishnej on 01/03/2006 03:39:29 Will ship bonuses apply as well?
Could make a nasty BomberScorp with these, and not have to worry about getting out with 18km optimal high strength anti-tackling Burst.
