Ok i'l ladmit to being a pirate/griefer in EVE, i am constantly being asked the most pointless and annoying question over and over and over again, no its not the "Why did you blow up my frig and introduce my pod to a 1400mm artillery shell" question, this is more annoying and pointless, its the "Why do you pay $xx a month to blow me up?"
The same reason people pay the same ammount to hump roids in a 1.0 system, the same reason people pay to run missions in rens......
Because I Enjoy It And It Makes EVE Fun
Doing something you find fun in EVE is the sole reason to play, the fact that i enjoy blowing people up on a daily basis is besides the point, so this is my pre-emptive answer to all those noobs i will no doubt destroy between now and when EVE goes for the big shut down.

It is impossible to be a griefer in Eve, because Eve is about war (dehumanizing included), not friendly games (arranged consentual PVP included). Griefing is to ruin a friendly game, which Eve is not.

So you're a pirate. Well, welcome, Mr Pirate. You are one of the people which spice my EVE life, and a secondary source of income. (yarrr bounty )
Don't bother to talk to people which hasn't any clue. Maybe one day, they will open their eyes and that pirates aren't so bad after all (I had, BTW). ____________________________________ Free ISP users, read this if you have connections problems [b]I'm on Eris side! |

Any who is, or has been, a pirate in Eve is obviously socially mal-adjusted and should be banned from the game for their own good.
They are all griefer scum, and once a griefer, always a griefer.

SAying anyone who's a pirate is a griefer is childish. In this game, the only was someone could really be a griefer is if they consistently targeted the same person over and over again just to ruin their gaming experiance.

You carrying on having fun, because without you and others like you, Eve would be a damn sight less interesting and very, very, dull.

lost an empty indy to you.
No biggie, between insurance and profit I still came out .5mil ahead fromt he cargo run (3 jumps)
you made the comment in local about running off newbies.
Run off the new players from griefing/pirating (not getting into that arguement) and the game dies.
As the older players leave for various reasons, the new bloods are what replaces them. run off the new and the game will bleed to death.
Hell look what happened to several of the older games, sure what was done was within the rules... but there was no new accounts to replace the exodus of existing players so those games were killed.
So have fun while it lasts, piracy has it's place if done right. simply gate camping and blowing low end ships up in 0.4 ... why not prove you can hang with the big boys and go play in 0.0 with them

We need to have one of these every week or to just so the "Carebears" (I hate that word) and the pirates can smack talk each other in the forum.
I think they get board of it in local.

I'm not a pirate type myself, but hey, this is a FULL pvp game ... I always laugh at the idiots who are offended that someone actually *gasp* uses a feature of the game and blows them up !

I wouldn't call you a griefer, your just a legit pirate. You serve a purpose in this game that you may not even realize. For starters you make unsecured space unsafe, this adds to a fear to travel in those systems and at the same time an air of exhiliration and excitment. Everytime you jump into a 0.0 system you know you are putting yourself and your ship at risk. Equally this brings me to purpose number two, bounties. For the risk of traveling into 0.0 systems pirates add an extra reward besides their equipment and the satisfaction of blowing them up, a bounty. These two things belong in Eve like snow in winter. Without the fear of 0.0 space this game would simply be boring. So piracy is a great part of the game.
A griefer is someone who takes it to an unescessary step. For example blowing you up and then spending half hour on Local talking trash about your Moma or sending you nasty E-mails filled with miss spelled profanity. Griefers also take full advantage of any exploits, like the kill rights bug that we have at the moment.
Now of course your going to get angry people that ask you hey why did you blow me up or why did you pod kill me. The answer as a pirate should always be clever and in character ensuring that the experiance of getting ganked by a pirate isn't anything more then what its supposed to be in the game, part of the fun. No need to curse the unlucky bastard out and make it personal.
I think from pirates in Eve, that's all I like. Be a pirate, but do it in the context of the game. Because although you enjoy being a pirate, no one enjoys having their game session disrupted with personal attacks, which often follows being ganked by a pirate.
