I have the same problem. All started from downloading that last patch. Before then, everything was fine :/.

I'm having the same problem. And I think it has been since the patch. Sometimes, before a crash the game will partially freeze on me, I can still move my view around and open and close windows and chat, but if I was zoning or docking/undocking then I would just be stuck either in warp or with a black screen. If I let it sit like this for a bit, the game crashes to desktop saying, 'Connection to server lost'.
Seems like I can go without crashing for something like 5-30 minutes.
I'm dying here, if anyone has any info on this please let us know!!!

usually those errors point to bad memory, or a weird driver issue.

I had a look at the log area of the eve directory after having installed the game on Saturday, I have about 5 dumps iirc with comments like, applying a wrong cast and negative values. I dont have access to my computer until Friday evening.

My two penneth .
Scan your computer with a Better AV than norton . Once it was a good piece of kit now its more akin to a collander than shield.

I've done some pretty thorough diagnostics this past week. I've run spyware checks, virus scans(using Avast Antivirus), and even briefly spoke to my ISP's tech support people: they seemed to indicate everything was working fine. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Eve once. I'm really puzzled.
Here's my system rundown:
1.7 GHz AMD 1GB Ram(PC3200) Audidy 2 ZS Nvidia GeForce FX 5700 Ultra(128MB)

My first question about random items ctds etc is How many tasks/processes are you running.
Try and keep these things down to a minimum if things start to go awry.
Most auto updating programs from my experience are tbh the festering sore of most online game play.
So that would be my initial starting point . turn off all unwanted services and programs ( either via msconfig or services ).then see if the problems are still there.
It doesnt matter if you PC is more than capable of running multiple programs - Its whether or not the programs can co exist on your PC .
Good Luck anyhow

Same exact issue. Did it to me multiple times through the tutorial. I picked up a trial to kick the tiresà Shame really, game really seemed to fit my style. (kind of hard to justify a 15$ a month cost with anything less than a rock solid experience (think GW)).
And by the way, my PC is rock solid, and I am currently running other MMO's with absolutely no issues. (and while I can't really divulge, I can tell you I know a thing or two about OS/software design, and this is definitely a buggy client.)
Gonna give it one more shot tonight, then IĈm off to actually 'play' another game.

I too am having this issue And it only since the last patch. Was rock solid for me before. Why pay if I can only play 30 minutes tops at a time? I'm going to try to hang in there, but I don't know how many more days of this I can take...

Pentium Centrino 1.7 GHz 1 gig ram Ati Mobility Radeon 9200 (Omega 2.6.87)
Similar issue here too. In the past 2 months my driver would crash out of the blue, but EVE would still run (just loads a black screen though, since the graphics driver crashed). I'm used to this issue though, and found my way around it since.
But now, since the last mini-patch, my computer crashes COMPLETELY. Like, from running to black screen. I'll check it out more thorougly probably, and hope it's not a driver problem again because I already have freaking driver problems because of my obscure ATI card (which, btw, hasn't had an official driver update yet).
Cheers :P and good luck to everyone else with this problem.

Hylex,
I'm sorry this is your introduction to Eve, don't let this deter you from playing the game, it's not usually like this. I just hope we can find a solution soon though.
Btw, how sure are you this problem is the client? I'm glad to know it's not just me having problems though.
Let's keep this thread going and near the top, maybe someone in the 'know' will stumble upon it.

I know Im not a guru when it comes to programming :)
But why do people always state "I run my other games ok " as an excuse as to why the program in question isnt running on their pc setup? As elephants go its irellevant be they african or indian. Name a game that uses the eve grafix engine and uses all their code ?
If the client was as "buggy " as you believe it to be . trust me you wouldnt so few complaints about ctds here on the forums.
The "my pc is rock solid" defence doesnt even enter into it. If it was then your problem is from your isp. ( btw your isp wont admit to being in the wrong until you threaten pulling teeth etc )
Fact, your PC is not running the game. Fact, many other people are running the game on their PCs without problems. I have access to 6 different machines - on 6 differnt isps each having their own unique set up and do not suffer from the problems described on any of them.Am I lucky or wrong? ( and trust me on 5 of these machines they are not "rock solid".
All Im asking is that you look closer to home as to why you are getting these "disconnects and ctds ".
Anyhow Hope you get your problems sorted out with your PCs

My problem is connection losses every 5-7 min. since last patch. Before patch it could be online all day without any problems excluding lags.
Now its not playable.

Edited by: axlotl on 01/03/2006 11:16:14 Since last week's patch, the IP address of eve-online server changed. This may have caused problem if you're behind a firewall if it restricts port 26000 to the old address for example.
I used the "TCP tunnel" soft (you can find it on download.com).
1) find a computer out there (a friend for example) that can conect to eve without problem, and is accessible from internet. 2) install TCPTunnel on this computer to receive connections on port 110 for example, and to connect to eve server (87.237.38.200:26000) 3) install TCPtunnel on your PC to listn port 26000 and to connect to your friend's pc on port 110. 4) type "localhost" or "127.0.0.1" in the server combo box and connect.
The whole picture is: [eve on localhost]-----(port 26000)----->[eve server] ... is not possible or difficult, for any reason (in my case, ports above 1023 are restricted by my ISP)
So, my method is to setup something like this: [eve on localhost]--(26000)-->[TCPtunnel on localhost]--(110)-->[TCPtunel on third-party PC]--(26000)-->[eve server]
The fact is, you have to find another machine where you can play eve flawlessly.
Hope this helps, if your problem is a connection problem.

Edited by: Pondor Stibbons on 01/03/2006 11:50:55 k, Last day or so, i have had to log off for sticking in jumpgates. i tried emptying cahce folder. no joy. the systems don't seem to be heavily populated max 20.
it was running better than this at the weekend.
edit:- no memory leak, or increase in cpu drain. most odd.

OK, was getting a load of blue screen IRQ not less than equal errors, then my motherboard failed (not sure if it was a power cut caused issue or from continous crashes, but the motherboard gave out) I now have a brand new machine (it took the rest of the core stuff with it) and I've been merrily playing and the only issue I get is the occasional disconnect from the server if I've not issued a new instruction recently (like when mining to a reasonably large hold). I can therefore only assume that it was either a crash caused issue that fritz some hardware or a specific driver combo that's not on the new machine. Oddly, after formatting the Harddrive and refitting it to my old systema and reinstalling the OS, it was only when I then tried to install other drivers that my system crashed, permanently.

Yes you obviously arent a pc guru. Usually when other software that uses same hardware specs or similar runs fine, it is a sign that something might be wrong with that particular software. In this case EVE.
Fact, it doesnt need to happen to everybody for it to be EVE's problem
Fact, more people than the ones you have read are having problems. SO how can somebody not generalize and say that other games run fine. But you can generalize and say many other people are running the game on their pc? What percentage of users would you like of EVE players too crash for you to think it might be EVE?
Heres a link to a post on how to fix the problem but before the patch :( It fixed my crashes fore last patch but it doesnt seem to work on this patch. Probably cause of all the hardware changes but it might be a starting point.

Anyone know how to fix it?

I am adding myself to the list of people with problems. I don't understand it. I can play Star Wars online and Guild Wars without any problems but EVE kicks me out somewhere between 1 minute and 5. Occaisionally I can play longer than this.
I have about 7 days left on my trial period and even though I like the whole space sci fi thing, I am not paying monthly.
