empire: 1 pilots: small green --> 10000 pilots big blue 0.0: 1 pilot: small yellow --> 1000 pilots big red
hope you get the point. the numbers are that high for a reason, in that case blobs don't merge too often.
just a suggestion, if you think that somehow i am the most stupid person in eve for thinking that would be a good idea, don't hesitate to tell me! but if you think this may improve the info one gets from the map, tell it to the devs in this thread, too.

The map needs a good nerfing, the glow is hopefully it warming up to burn.

Something needs to be done! Colours sound like a good solution to me. Maybe a rainbow spectrum for increasing player numbers a bit like sec level? The current blob size is a bit knackered tbh. -- We are the Octavian Vanguard www.octavianvanguard.net

More solar systems would be nice and a variation in the background. It would be so comfy to fly in a system wihtout those damn gas clouds.

Yeah, I'd prefer if the map got changed, but I think it's just one of this silly little quirks that we've all learned to live with. We just go about our EVE lives and work around it.
But it would be nice to see it toned down a little. :)

personally, id like the map to stop burning my eyes out every time i open it.
when youre in 0.0 space and using "pilots in the last 30 minutes" fully zoomed out its kinda scary _____________________________ Ex-Coretech, We still shoot people. |

Interesting - it was only recently i had the colour options turned on - normally they are off and i am only concerned with a planned route and seeing how many jumps there are to get to a place :)

Agreed, why not use more colors. ranging from maybe blue - green - yellow - red. each dot has a threshold on how many players. and then the dot would be a diffrent size to indicate position within the specific threshold.
Always wondered why the chose to only use the warm colors. why not use the cold ones.
blue:0-5 pilots green: 6-20 pilots yellow: 21-99 pilots red:100+ pilots

Redundancy

I don't think we're going to change the rules on a per-location basis - it'd make the concept of a comparative view a very strange one.
The last change I put in scaled the blobs on a non-linear basis - I can always increase the power of that function to preserve the smaller blobs and decrease the size of bigger blobs a little.

I'd like an "intensity" slider so I can dial down the blobs for global view and turn the detail up if I'm looking locally. Something similar for "my agents" (big green blob!) would also be nice.
However, generally the map is awesome and I commend whoever's responsible for designing it.

well no clue if its the same routine, but "recently" (few months ago) you seem to changed agents stuff aswell. if i hit my gagents i only see "green", nothign more.. before that i actualyl coudl see WHWERE the green comes from. now.. its... just... green...

Well, OP's got some sort of point there, you know ? The best way to have "blobs" is to scale the LARGEST one to about 5ly, then the rest accordingly. __ Always question everything. Including yourself. |

Actually, map could use a function to slect agents by level. Show all avaiable lvl 1 agents, show all avaiable lvl 2 agents, etc.. at times, it becomes very hard to find the lvl 3's in the blob of lvl 1's and 2's.

Whilst your here, can you fix the map bug? As in pilots in space is incorrect in station systems. The rule seems to be to get an accurate number now you multiply the numbers shown as docked x 2 then subtract that from what pilots in space shows. Which is annoying :p
I have BR'ed this about 10 times, and slapped people in #eve-chaos to no avail. Can you look at it?

Just point that doomsday device to the Concord mapping central and let it rip!
Nerf the map and introduce worthwhile features like enemy sightings, own corporate offices, rally points, depots and the like, stuff we as corporations can use.

The devs are working on this actually. Watch this for details... its about mid way through the video so if you don't want to watch the other stuff then fast forward.

Edited by: Gloria Stitz on 09/10/2006 21:59:59 'my agents' is a hoot after a while, but not really a feature that is used unless you are fairly new. I use it to cast a spooky green light over a darkened room
The agents available to me in jove space are mildly perplexing though
