I've been looking at alot of what's going on. So far, there's only a couple of types of players. The miners and the fighters. We all know what the two catagories are, and everyone pretty much falls into one or the other. I figure a new, hostile alien race would be pretty cool. Some sort of species that needs human biomass for protein supplement or some such. You know, the usual crap. But, it'd give rise to new and interesting skills. It'd also give the fighters who're getting bored with pirates and such something to shoot at besides us. I mean, think. New ship types, skills, weapons, technology. Maybe incorporate a system into the game that would require you to research a captured ship before you could start learning to pilot it. If you captured a fully armed ship, you'd have to research the ship, research the weapons, etc. in order to utilise it to the full advantage. Also, it'd mean building a military for some corps more viable. Something that'd actually make sense. because, you gotta admit, there's ALOT of battleships wandering about. And when the leviathan hits the systems, there'll be just as many of those around. New skills might include... ...MILITARY TACTICS. Gives an edge in battle. Improves the skill ratings by a percentage for each level you have. ...ZENOBIOLOGY. An understanding of the alien life forms and how best to eliminate them. Represented by a skill percentage bonus when attacking an alien ship. those are just two examples of what I'm talking about. It'd also allow CCP to release a set of military class vessels for us. Also allow us to join an organised military and fight for hte survival of humanity. The possibilities are endless. As life goes by, I often consider the benefits of government-enforced sterilisation. |

There are no aliens in EvE.
What you are talking about comes very close to the Jove, though.

We might miss this supreme idea otherwise, better make sure.
Aliens should be at least 2 years down the line if ever introduced at all.

I'd posted it in both areas because not everyone goes to the general forum to whine and complain like you three do. Some people actually try to give positive ideas. Unlike you three who'd prefer to, as I stated before, make negative comments and tear other people's ideas apart. It's not about agreeing. If you disagree, make a valid argument as to why you disagree. Don't just call the idea stupid and expect people to listen to you. I welcome other people's opinions. Especially if they're well thought out arguments as to WHY the idea wouldn't work. But, instead you children choose to just make comments to the negative without giving any kind of feedback or helpful suggestions. You know, you call me a troll. Yet you're the ones who've come into this area to insult and degrade me. Interesting. Don't call me what your mother raised please. As life goes by, I often consider the benefits of government-enforced sterilisation. |

I stated my case in the other forum, too much spectacular input into the game without substance and bearing to the prime fiction will degrade this game into a killing zone of the most colorful fluff you can imagine, teletubbies, spacemuppets, borg smurfs and digimons alike.

That makes sense Danton. I can understand what you're saying. But, wouldn't that type of an introduction mean the fighters would have something to do? It would also mean you couldn't just set to mine and wander off for a couple of hours without wondering if your ship would be there when you got back. Mercenaries would also have a trade. Hire yourself out as protection for the miners. It could spawn a whole new business in the game, plus it might actually bring the players a little closer together. Roleplaying would take a little more of a front seat since you'd have to deal with people more often. As life goes by, I often consider the benefits of government-enforced sterilisation. |

We just need an improved coding on the NPC faction ships, their numbers, their modus operandi, their equipment. That will all improve over time, no need for the cavalry just yet.

But cavalry is fun to watch ride in and slaughter the indians. Or, in Custer's case, get slaughtered. Maybe some sort of contract system for mercs might be a good ide.a You know, base cost for guarding=the cost of ship replacement+[ercentage of the ore mined type thing. What we need is factions to matter, the storyline to kick of and players groupsing themselves to form sides in a conflict.
What we don't need are aliens. We got the jove (and stavros)

Edited by: Kalhan on 05/09/2003 15:37:43 Its not that your Idea is stupid. Its that everything you have mentioned is already there. Just not what you call it, Everything. why do you think that you have comments from your other post asking you if you even play the game.
just becuase you can't select a class in char creation that titles you as merc or fighter(which are in the same catagory) Doesn't mean you can't be one.
Look around there is more going on then you hear about or see in your area.
