I am happy to announce that Space Invaders have turned over a new leaf! Gone are the robberies and holdups of old. We have seen the light and repented of our evil ways. We have a new committment, a new vision : to tame a region of wild space and in it uphold peace, order, freedom, and prosperity! A region where no trader must live every second in constant terror of violent assault and robbery upon his hard earned gains. A region where no explorer must fear brutal and total annhilation at the hands of relentless murderers and pirates. A region where no miner is prohibited from seeking out and exploiting the asteroid fields of his dream.
But such a dream will not come about on its own, for indeed, there are vast and powerful forces arrayed against the concept of freedom. Vile pirates ply their foul craft upon the tradelanes and highways of the world, and greedy power hungry alliances scramble to lay claim to the richest regions of the universe, shutting out the smaller corporations and freelancers. With shifty and avaricious eyes they are ever vigilant to crush any other alliance that threatens their iron grasp on the resources of the universe.
Taking this into consideration, Space Invaders has joined with a number* of other equally fair minded corporations to create the L.S.S.** Alliance, which will tirelessly work to ensure the safety of its territory through frequent patrols, to ensure all alliance members and authorized visitors are able to pursue their pasttimes in peace. Rest assured that your safety is secured with alliance peace keeping forces present. However if you are a nefarious pirate intent upon plundering the innocent, or a troublesome meddler intent upon breaking the peace, be warned! The L.S.S. Alliance will tolerate no piracy or armged gangs of thugs within its sacred borders! Such disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
To further this goal, the L.S.S. Alliance must restrict access to L.S.S. space to alliance members, or those visitors who have obtained the proper clearance and whose intentions have been verified as harmless. Such visitors will be issued a passport which will entitle them, temporarily, to enjoy the full benefits of the L.S.S. territory, along with protection offered by L.S.S. peace keeping forces. Regrettably, space is vast, and our peace keeping forces, though tireless in their resolution to uphold the law, are few. Thus we regret that we must currently issue these passports only in exchange for a modest sum of money, which will go to a number of suitable charities, and to fund the efforts of the L.S.S. peace keeping forces.
Being ever fair minded and reasonable, such a sum will be calculated upon the net worth of the vessel you wish to bring into the region - have no fear, we will not charge a frigate captain more than his means allow him to pay, nor ever charge more than a fraction of your vessels cost. I know that some of you may be reluctant to part with your money, but rest assured it goes to a good cause. Also, we will be more than happy to allow unlimited mining of all the rich deposits of rare ores in L.S.S space, a benefit that is not given to the visitors of many other existing regional aliances. You will of course, be allowed to hunt and trade as much as you desire. How long do these passports last? At least 24 hours, and often much longer! We are even willing to give discounts to visitors who wish to establish a long term relationship with the L.S.S. Alliance.
In order to maintain the safety and security of alliance members and authorized visitors, we will have to refuse entrance to those who do not obtain passports, and treat them as hostiles. Our peace keeping forces shall be forced to escort them from the system in their pods, after destroying their potentially hostile ships. But do not worry, we are not bloodthirsty or vindictive - once your capabilility to harm our alliance is removed, we do not feel a need to destroy your pod as well. Note that pirates or other disturbers of the peace need not apply! You will not be allowed entry into the region, to slaughter the helpless innocents.
For all law abiding citizens, once you purchase a passport, you will have free reign of the L.S.S territories, and will be offered such protection as our peace keeping forces can provide. We regret that, unlike the excellent example set forth by the Fountain Alliance, we do not currently have an ingame channel where one may request a passport. However, instead, our official representatives will contact you for the passport payment - this onerous burden is thus lifted from your shoulders by the kind and helpful pilots of the L.S.S. Alliance.

The whole thing is to be read tongue in cheeck :p
Just trying to show how, with a teensy bit of effort, you can make pirates sound like a 'law abiding' regional alliance!

I think that was his point... regarding the NVA.
Ironically I have much appreciation for the level of ability shown in much of the posting that goes on in these boards. Truly a worthwhile addition to my Eve experience.
However I have to admit that as much as love Jade's literary style I'm not so in love with it that I'll allow blinders to be put on.
Same for Space Invaders too.
Just saying you've turned over a new leaf doesn't do it. And in Jade's case trying to get to that well first doesn't mean our thirst will be quenched.
So I'm enjoying the circus maximus being displayed... I just won't take it as the "way it is" in eve.
Space Invalids or Non Viable Algae... it's all the same to me.. fun reading about you. Wouldn't want to be near either one of you. I like my skin.

I thought it was hilarious. But it was pretty long. Grades A on effort and humor, B- on brevity. Still a good grade :)
