I've heard several reports about ppls earning more than 20mil ISK per hour in game.
Can anybody give me a hint about how to make little bit more playing solo, at least to earn enough for skill books.. I can spend half a day trying to earn 1-2mil. in the best case. I've tried trading(looong flying hours coz it always several regions transit for best deal), i've tryed mining - mining omber can give me about 0.5mil an hour - at the best effort.. Killing NPC for 5-10k looks for me as a waste of time. What am I missing here ? Well, I am noob, but I can do indys and barges.. but still desperatly out of money, even for some advanced skills.

As in real life, it takes money and know how to make money.
Trading is very profitable, but you have to have the capital and know where to buy and where to sell. Mining is profitable, but not in a frigate. NPCing is profitable, but not by killing NPC frigates.
And 20 mil/h is a pretty good income. I do 10-15 mil hunting in the belts in 0.0 (excluding loot).
In the start you simply don't have the means to make a lot of money.. unless you get lucky ------------------------ I don't believe in sigs. |

Run missions or mine if you don't have the capital outlay. the noob missions are always best to do since you can earn enough to fit out a new frig to do more than the noob ship can.
Like RL, find a niche that earns you some isk and go for it.

Chuck - read up the posts in the market section - guile, cunning and about 5 mil isk is all you need to start off with ;)

A good way to get money in the beginning is to ask around in the starter corp if some experienced player needs help for something. Sadly, many are afraid of alts who will steal from them, but sometimes someone will take you along on a mission to collect loot or similar. The bounty alone can be pretty valuable, just do EXACTLY what the other player says.
If you find noone, it might be a good idea to group up with a few others from the starter corp and start something you like. Mining, hunting NPCs, whatever. You usually get a better result if you distribute work load (one mines, one hauls).
A more risky option is to run as scout in low sec systems. If you can get someone who has to haul something into low sec to trust you, you can hop in advance into a system that might contain a gate camp and tell the other about it. If you pick a cheap ship (ideally paid by the one you are scouting for, but since even a shuttle will work the cost is small) the only thing you'll lose is the clone cost (so decide in advance how you settle that) and implants (so avoid this if you already have some). Again, the widespread use of alts makes this method rare, since the other pilot cannot know if you are in reality a pirate who wants to lure his freight ship into a trap.
I sometimes head into starter systems when I have something to do that can be done by new pilots, but my calls on local so far had no impact (for instance, I needed Water and Wheat for some RP thing, set up a good buy order and announced that in Cistuvaert - I had to do without Wheat :().

Edited by: Tony Fats on 02/03/2006 10:14:44 In my experience, solo moneymaking in Empire tops out at around 3 mil an hour. To make more you, you need a unique knowledge of the market.
NPC trading in lowsec, all it takes is a hauler, some capital, instas of the region, and giant balls.
Level 3 and 4 missions pay pretty good.
Mining. Can make big money.
