Edited by: Crooked Eyes on 02/03/2006 22:51:55 Just a few moments ago the server kicked me and is now I keep getting the following message at the charactor selection stage.
"Your character is located within (Peyiri), which is currently loading. Please try again in a moment."
Peyiri isn't a busy system so what gives?
Update: Now I get "Your character is located within (Peyiri), which is currently stuck. Please select a different character or try later."

An intelligent man said some days ago: "Never play on a patchday". I think he was really intelligent :)

I find it interesting how on every patch we have the same problems. Server doesn't work right.
Isn't there a Test server for this? I mean, if they were to test it wouldn't they know the known issues and workarounds to keep the server up?That is ofcourse why they call it the Test Server isn't it LOL?
I didn't go to Obvious School or anything, But Hey!! :)

Edited by: Sparaticus on 02/03/2006 23:33:49 Also if the server cluster was rebooted for an "unscheduled short amount of downtime" then why is it that one of the least used systems, Nasesharafa (at most 25 people) can't be loaded? Is my Raven still in there duking it out with the rats that we were fighting before being kicked?
CCP has been very good in the past about downtimes, enhancements, patches, and expansions. I guess the software gremlins that are normally at Microsoft paid them a visit and now nothing works right?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now when I attempt to login I get the message that states "The EVE Cluster is currently starting up and cannot service your logon attempt at this time. Please try again shortly."
Why is it that the other 4,173 players were able to get in? If you are going to bring up the ENTIRE cluster, shouldn't you make sure that it is up before allowing anyone to connect to it? |

All this makes me really thinking about the CCP knowledges.... and unlike other games (ie: WOW) they do not credit us for days lost without playing by their fault. I also pay for WOW for 18 months now and these problems never happen. Maybe should i start to play at it with my kids...

That "shortly" is already 13 hours long.....

Also unlike other MMORPGs you do not pay extra for expansions, they keep adding content without adding cost. Other MMORPGs lose about 75% of their support staff once the game goes live so they can work on other projects. CCP is all about this game alone, hence full staff all the time.
As for WoW never having connection issues, you are one of the lucky ones I guess, all my friends that play WoW say they see a connection issue at least once a month..
Just relax, they will get thsi fixed quickly, they always do and then we will have all sorts of new things to play with. ============================ In Service of God and Empire Edward Sarum |

A staging cluster would help this. Put the patch on a staging cluster that is an exact copy of their live server cluster so they can see any problems a day before hand. Usually test servers have subtle differences from live servers and problems aren't detected right away.

Now the login screen is showing another 1,000 or so people connected. What the **** is going on here?
Things were so much better when I could put torpedoes on my kestrel and take down battleships. "You can choose to swim in the pool or go swim in the ocean." |

When the server starts up, it doesn't let all users log in at the same time. This prevents the server from crashing due to so many log-ins at the same time. The cluster capacity is slowly increased in increments to prevent load problems from arising.
Please bear with us and hang in there - I'm also anxious to get ingame myself.
Also keep an eye on the Patch update information thread.

Edited by: Siegas on 02/03/2006 23:43:33 Just sit back. CCP will bring it up. I would guess they are limting the number of people logging in at a time to control load on the servers.
EDIT: I guess the post above mine was posted while I was typing away.
