As the title suggests, have you ever bought insurance that wasn't platinum? I have not. |

Why we have other totally useless insurance type ? Not that platinum isnt useless, Insurance at whole is useless but some still use it. |

I did twice. Once as a newbie and once when I ran low of ISK. "Better than nothing"
CSM do you think? No matter the changes, high sec people chose the safests. Lots of stick and they will leave. Half the problem is the players in null sec; we do not want to be there with you. |

I'm quoting someone, from somewhere..:
someone wrote:[...]we'll be using basic economics, make a donation set/item/weapon etc. Make it slightly better than any other item of the sort in game, but not overpowered. Let's say we'll make it exactly like t7 but all stats +15. These values are examples, we can always alter them. We sell these sets for a certain amount of money for a full set. We will also make a set, let's say t7 +35 stats, this set we'll make a little more expensive than the first one but not too much. By making this set more than 2x better than the first set set, but only slightly more expensive people will be more tempted to buy this set than the other for a couple of reasons.
- The set is significantly better than the first set. - The set gives more stats per dollar than the other set.
This is called psychological economics. The buyer will be more tempted to buy the surperior set rather than the cheap one.

I've heard many times that the 2nd best insurance is the most cost effective. Though I think I've only used it once or twice when I was broke. On the other hand, I hardly ever use Platinum either. Insurance is for suicide gankers, and noobs who can't keep their ships alive. |

Come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I bought insurance for my ships.
I should probably look into that. I am neither fanboy nor flamer. I am logic, dispassionate and cruel. |

Given I almost exclusively fly T2 or faction ships and not loosing them that often, I don't insure my ships 90% of the time.
If I do anything like going on a drunk roam, fielding a triage carrier or suiciding someone, it's platinum however. morons-áare recruiting. We're good at breeding! |

Insurance is a godsend when you're a newbie and aren't making much isk yet, but it loses its importance later on, especially when you start flying T2 ships, and when you start getting to know the game better so you die less. I haven't done any calculations for it, but I think there must be some break off point where if you're only losing ships infrequently, it makes sense not to insure, because you're wasting the insurance money.
However, I don't think I'm quite at that point yet, so I still insure my ships, though mostly as a sort of ritual rp part of buying a ship, really, and usually Platinum, but sometimes Gold if I'm particularly tight on isk. |

I should probably look into that. Must have been that last rookie mission where you have to lose that ship ...

It probably is pointless and redundant but at same time...whats point in taking it out.
Plus I think alot of ISK strapped noobs might like the cheaper options. |

Once when i couldnt afford the platinum insurance on a carrier. i had to rep a pos i owned at the time and figured it was extremely likely i'd get hotdropped. As predicted the pos did indeed get hotdropped.... but my carrier (a chimera) made it out with 4% structure sadly my alliance mate's nyx wasn't so lucky and died just before my chimera got primaried.
I only got out cos i got a lucky jam with my vespa 600's and was able to warp out to a safe pos in system then jump out when i had enough cap.
it took about 3 hrs sitting in a pos with 5 large hull reppers and 1 capital armor repper to repair that chimera
and a ton of nanite paste to repair all the modules
the pos died too Everytime you buy something that says "made in china" you are helping the rising unemployment in your own country unless your from china, Buy locally produced goods and help create more jobs. |

i used to take out insureance but due to the fact that your just paying more on the hull and you have no garantee that you will even need that insureance .... I WANT A NO CLAIMS BONUS!! |
