Hmm, why does battlecruisers only require Spaceship Command IV and no other skills at all? Is this a error or is it intended?

It's Spaceship Command IV to learn the Battlecruiser skill. To actually fly a battlecruiser of a given race you will need the appropriate racial cruiser skill trained to level III also.
The true overall requirements for the use of a module or ship are always shown as the requirements on the ship itself, with secondary and tertiary requirements spelled out clearly.

I see, but this differs from other skills i think. Take Caldari cruiser for example. Skill says Spaceship Command 3 and Frigate 4 to train it.
All other ship skills have the rest of the required skills listed on the skill, but not battlecruisers.

Just examine the ship instead of the skillbook if you want to know what you need to fly it.
No not all other ships have all the requierments in the book. Assault Ships are a good example where you need engineering 5, mechanic 5 and spaceship command 3 to train the skill but also need frigate 5 to fly the ships. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edited by: The Cosmopolite on 06/03/2006 12:13:04 Take a look at the Destroyers skill.... or even a higher level skill like Interceptors or Assault Frigates. They don't list all the skills needed to get into a given ship in those classes.
What you'll notice is that the above, like Battlecruisers skill, are generic ship skills rather than race specific skills.
The main reason Battlecruisers and Destroyers skills are like this is that they are two tech 1 ship classes that were introduced quite some time after the frigate, cruiser, battleship classes. They were slotted into an existing framework of tech 1 ships to fill gaps that CCP perceived in the range of tech 1 ship classes.
What CCP did was take the decision to make it easier to get into the new ships across the board by making generic destroyer and battlecruiser skills and linking the ship requirements with these skills and racial frigate/cruiser skill levels. Their alternative would have been to introduce racial destroyer and battlecruiser skills, which would have added more training as people trained for each racial line of battlecruisers.
