Don't forget Freespace 1 and 2! However, I think EVE supercedes all other space sims. I grabbed X3 to play during the DTs for the hardware upgrade and the last patch and I found I didn't enjoy it b/c I spent the whole time thinking, "EVE is sooo much better!"

Freespace definitely. Still got it around here somewhere, but can't find 2 anywhere and can't be assed to get it from e-bay.

Eve players desperately need other games, because this sickening elitist a-hole attitude seen around here lately is making me leave the game. Seriously. "Go play WoW" is used as a negatory comment just about anywhere and it is getting old, implying that if you're a hardcore Eve player, you're better than everyone else. Yes, even Dark Shikari makes me sad when he sinks this low, and I used to look up to him as a hero.
In all honesty, alot of people around here needs to actually try WoW before they ever speak about it again, and do so without any preconception in the way. I see now that WoW lacks alot of quality in those few things Eve does well, but I also see that Eve falls short on many things that WoW offers, so basically I see them as equal games in terms of quality, for different means of satisfaction. Eve is 100% PVP for me that physically hurts me in the most intense ways a game can deliver, where as WoW is quick and social entertainment that lets me have fun whenever I want to, and however I want to, at the expense of it never becoming a nervewrecking and exciting experience. I cannot speak for the longevity of WoW since I've only been playing a little over a week, but I still believe it is a game that NEEDS to be tested before rejected and bashed, and approached without bias.
My subscription for Eve is running out in a few days, but I'll write a lengthy analysis of Eve and the community before I leave. I'll be touching these subjects more thoroughly in that post.
Griefing is to ruin a friendly game, which Eve is not. |

You say that people should play WoW.
I have.
I've been to level 60.
At least from my perspective, the game was miserable from level 1. I had far more fun in Anarchy Online.
And once you reach level 60, it goes from bad to absolutely worthless. You can't have "quick entertainment" in a game that doesn't allow fun to begin with.
I entered the game with an open mind, and played with an open mind all the way to max level. Otherwise I wouldn't have even bothered if I wasn't open to accepting the game. But that doesn't change the fact that its pure crap.
I bash WoW because it is a horrible game, and I have played it, and I of anyone would know.

It is no secret that WoW is full of morons, I've met many of them in game (bastards who leaves you in a bad situation once they're done with the quest, people who don't understand the purpose of their class etc), but then again Eve certainly ain't any better. Game communities are like any other society: good and bad people has to share the same lot. It is just the gratification of Eve and elitist bashing of WoW and the WoW community that makes me ashamed of being an Eve player. I used to think highly of the Eve community, but then I realized I was just seeing a couple of handful people or more (23?) with deeper insight than the other hundred morons who tries to wield their fragile egos every day. When people say "The Eve community is great and mature", they're really talking about a very select few of people who writes coeherent sentences and boast their ego in a "glimpse in the eye" kind of way. When people speak of the WoW community, they're just taking the worst example and letting it represent 5 million people.
Eve has a place for superstars to evolve in the community, WoW is a shattered community (several independent servers) with no place for recognition, no personalities to represent the masses. While in Eve, it is natural to judge the community by the faces and names you recognize (which happen to be that of popular people), WoW has to let the anonymous idiots tell the story. What Im trying to say is that Eve is no better than WoW, it just has more chiseled out representatives. Eve is a dark red Volkswagen with the Unpimp my ride lady in the passenger seat, while WoW is a 14 year old doing "unpimp ze auto" impressions.

Agreed, in some ways.
I'm not "superior" to a WoW player, but I have every right to say that in my opinion, its a crap game 
Anyways, you're derailing this thread. Its not really related to the EVE v. WoW discussion tbh.
