I just can't be sure where the percentage goes with armour compensation skills on passive hardeners( It says 5% per lvl to resistance ). And so I can't really calculate what's what compared to active hardeners.
What I would like to know is whether a damage specific membrane tech II (37.5%) with its relevant compensation skill to lvl 5 will come close to matching a 55% tech II active hardener? Just knowing exactly how the skill is applied would be helpful : ) Is it added to the ships base resist, the 37.5% hardener resist or base plus hardener etc?
Any help?
The Capacitor is empty. |

Edited by: Aramova on 07/03/2006 04:55:18 The passive adaptive nanos are to every resistance, where normal ones are to just one.
On a Deimos I put a TS Adaptive Nano, T2 Adaptive Nano and a A-Type Explosive passive, with the following resistances, passive.
EM: 76.8907928254 % Explosive: 74.1291842236 % Kinetic: 90.6118845853 % Thermal: 81.2237691707 %

The compensation skills really only help you if you're running passives, as I recently found out. The skill only benefits the active hardeners when they're not activated, thus, the 3% "boost" is applied to the 1% passive bonus. Not very useful.
Truth be told you're better off with an adaptive nano plus passive hardeners, only delving into actives when you need the extra "oomph." A 37.5% becomes 46.875% with the 'comp skills at V for no cap. Add on an adaptive nano, and it computes from the post-nano numbers...I think. Can't be sure.

Bottom line:
Passive tank becomes better with skills, aktive tank becomes better with ISK.
It bogs down to everthing smaller than a bs should stick to passive (conserve cap) while a bs can use actives with no real drain.

as said above they are only good for passive but some passive setups are fantastic. I use a TS kin and a therm II passive on an enyo and get ~91%kin and 89 therm I think (from mem) which enables me to tank 10->12 guristas BS plus cruisers and frigs. Not much else can do that

hmm no?
passive tank does indeed become better with skills.
active tank becomes better with CAP.
as a general rule...
ships that require lots of cap ( amarr ships, gallente, tacklers, some cruisers etc) with need to passive tank, i passive tank on all my ships, although it doesnt give me the highest resistances it means im saving cap for my all important weapons.
where can i petition the ISD member that messed with my sig for no reason? |

Edited by: Scagga Laebetrovo on 07/03/2006 16:04:21 I need to rectify the idea of armor compensation:
When you gain thermal armor compensation to level 1, you gain 5% of the 37.5% (T2 membrane) to make it 39.375%, or does it become 42.5%?
Edit: sorry question was already answered!

clarification: you cant passive armor tank.. you can only passive shield tank.
what you are saying is passive hardening, quite different from passive tanking which is excluded to shields cause of shield recharge as armor doesnt automatically repair.
