I'm just wondering how worth it it is to train a young toon to cybernetics 5 for faster train time. Doing this to use +5. What are your thoughts on this? |

In my opinion, there is no point to do it to only get +5 attribute implants early. It is only worthwhile to train to use hardwirings.
+4 max: (27 + 4) * 60 + (21 + 4) * 30 = 2610 SP/hour +5 max: (27 + 5) * 60 + (21 + 5) * 30 = 2700 SP/hour Difference: +90 SP/hour = +3.45%
+4 min: (17 + 4) * 60 + (17 + 4) * 30 = 1890 SP/hour +5 min: (17 + 5) * 60 + (17 + 5) * 30 = 1980 SP/hour Difference: +90 SP/hour = +4.76%
It is a gain of 90 SP/hour for every +1 of both primary and secondary attributes. |

The difference is 90sp an hour. Getting Cyber 5 from 4 is 632-á235 skill points. At an additional 90 sp per hour, it will take almost 10 months to recoup the Cyber 5 investment, assuming you plug in +5 implants (which are ~100 million each) for the atributes you're training and you can afford to replace them when you get podded |

Plus, that 632235 sp (12-13 days? not sure) are best spent somewhere else for a young toon.
I'm years in and it's on my "to do" list, but not anytime soon. |

On the other hand the hardwirings are boss and if you do high-end PvE n' such, you want them. |

I have never regretted getting cybernetics 5 on all my chars at an early stage. The +5 implants are nice and to not be restricted with any hardwires is a bonus Mashie Saldana Dominique Vasilkovsky

i have two accounts over 60m sp each and never trained cybernetics 5 on either, despite never being without implants and rarely getting podded. level 4 lets you use 5% hardwires, so, eh. I would say the longer you play the game the bigger gain from using +5 implants over +4 becomes. Sure you can theorycraft that it takes a certain amount of time to "get the benefits", but you'll continue to reap them for years as long as you're in a clone with those implants.
If you have a PvP clone it's likely not using any learning implants unless you're using one of the pirate implant sets anyways, and if you do use pirate implants you need Cybernetics 5 for the omega implant as well. |

True, but I'd say there's bigger chance doing PvE with 6% hardwires instead of PvP :) Unless you like the shivers ofc! |

AFter going with the 5+ implants for a while, I have decided its not worth it because of this. 5 +5 implants come down to 600mill plus/minus. 600mill is about 2 mill SP, 1 plex or a month training at optimal SP if you were to buy a new character from the bazaar. Don't forget that ISK trumps SP. That said you do get cyber 5 later for the skill hardwiring. |

Do you think you will stick around awhile? If so, getting to 5 is a good investment early on.
I did this early in my career and invested in a full set of +5s, 3 years later I still have the same ones installed.
As long as you are primarily based in High Sec, and are willing to jumpclone into something with cheaper implants before venturing into low/null/WH space, there's very little risk of losing them. |

Not to mention that high grade pirate implants require Cybernetics 5 as well. It's worth it just for those alone.
I don't follow the ISK trumps SP though. Why would you ever buy 5 implants as well? Assuming you have some sort of skill plan, you only need to get 2 implants for the 2 primary stats you plan on training.
Most people will have several clones: +5 Perc/Wil +5 Int/Mem HG pirate set PvP set
In short, personally, I think it's definitely worth it. |

Train it early.
More SP is more SP.
I recommend every cheap skill you can get your hands on to L3 followed by the must have 1x multiplier skills to L5 followed by cybernetics L5.
Think long term and enjoy the extra SP you other wise wouldn't of had for years to come. |

Don't even consider plugging in +5s as a new player.
It will make you too careful, which will mean you take less risks, which will mean you learn less player skills.
A player with 19.8m SP and good habits is better placed than a player with 20m SP and bad habits.
As for experienced players making new characters - I am currently training a Dreadnaught pilot to sell. They have not ever undocked, will not undock while I own them, and they only took Cybernetics to 4. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. EVE's golden rule: Never trust anyone in-game unless you are sleeping with them in real life. Even then, they may only be screwing you to screw you. |

I have characters with 60 40 and 32m SP, and the only one I've bothered with Cyber 5 on is the 40m, and that was because I trained it to be a booster alt, and knew in advance I would need it for mindlinks, and still only plugged in +4s. I'm probably going to train cybernetics 5 on my 60m character some time this year for an omega implant, but that character dies often enough that I'm unlikely to ever plug in more then a +3. |

By that logic, I could sell a couple hundred plex, buy all the best modules and most powerful ships, and rule the pvp scene forever.
Good luck with that. |

I think Cybernetics was the first skill that I ever trained to 5. The implants weren't far behind.
