Like the title says, i'm interested in both races. I really like the two new bloodlines as they seem well suited for PvP and fighting in general(what i'm mainly interested in) and i'm wondering what are the pro's and cons for each race and which one, (if any) would be more suited for pvp?
Like which ships are best, ect ect. So far i've really really liked the amaar ships and the laser turrets. I havn't really had a chance to missle combat yet but I will shortly. I'm mainly interested in what people think of these two races and what stats I should be shooting for for a fighting character.
Thanks in advance! I must also say this is the most friendly and helpful MMO community I have ever had a chance to play with also so this is a big advantage of this game. I will deffinitally be signing up once my trial is done.

For Race: Go either way. Caldari is slightly better, but Amarr is cooler.
For ships: You can try them both out eventually. Just keep in mind that Amarr doesn't get any missile hardpoints until Battlecruiser or so. On the other hand, Caldari is THE Missile Race. ----------------------------------------------- My Band's new Demo: Linkage to Torrent |

All races are pretty much equal--they can use whatever ships they want anyways, so it doesn't really matter.
There are no "best" ships, generally, and neither is one race "more suited for PvP."

First of all even if you make your char amarr you can train caldari and the other way around.
Caldari and Amarr is very different, they are sort of the opposits of each other. If you focus on one it's not so easy to switch to the other as the skill sets don't overlap very much.
Amarr is the brute, slugging it out with high damage and good tanking but are a bit one sided and predictible.
Caldari is the trickster, using electronic warfare to mess with his opponent and using several weapon systems (caldari is not only missiles, lots of caldari ships use railguns as well) for varied damage types. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for all the input thus far. So far i've made two characters just now to test out and discarded my original test character. I've started a Khanid(Amaar) and a Achura(Caldari). So far i've noticed that Achura has a *big* advantage statwise starting out and cuts down training time by alot. However, the Khanid is sexier :P shipwise and lookswise lol. Dunno I probably should go Caldari from what you are all saying I just like the looks of the Amaar class and ships... plus Laser combat seems kinda cool and I've noticed it seems to do more damage faster. While missles are kinda slow rate of fire thus far. Dunno... i'm really torn on this one. hmm I think I might just have to play around more. If anyone has anymore input to share please do so I am really apreciating it right now :)
Thanks a bunch everyone :)

You can start with Achura but start training on Amarrian ships at the start. Just buy and learn the skills and "level up".
You are welcome.

Why is Caldari considered easy mode for PvP?

LOL @ Jennys sig
Yeah Caldari ships are better for PvPing for new players - your damage output is higher. But other races will catch up and overtake you eventually. ------------------ The ISS Navy is recruiting.

1. Fewer skills to learn. 2. Shield tanks are more effective in the short term than armor tanks. 3. Missiles don't have to deal with tracking.

Caldari is basically easy-mode for PVE.
Missiles always hit, they always do good damage, strong shield tanking makes it easy for newbs, longest lock range. Basically makes ratting a no-brainer, 3 week noobs in Feroxes raking in cash from level 3's. Downside is that you're the most annoying, overplayed race in the game, and 10 other people look exactly like you. Your starting airspace is the most crowded in the galaxy, with the local conversation in Kisogo looking something like Barrens chat.
Amarr basically the airspace isnt as crowded, has a little more style and backstory to it, lasers require no ammo, heavy armor, Khanid has really nice stats for a fighter, and once you learn a thing or two about turret tracking you'll be lightyears ahead of FeroxNoob001 in terms of actual mechanical knowledge of the game.
My advice, go with Khanid.

Agreed. Missles are good and all that, but its much more fun to blast at things with lasers. Missles always hit, but they tend to do crap damage if you're using something such as torpedos against frigates or drones. And you have to carry ammo, whereas Tech1 laser crystals never break or run out. And you can switch range faster than any other turret user (no 10 second ammo delay).

Try Matari autocannons for a scary ammount of ISK firing out of your ship every minute. I worked out that on my Rupture I was shooting off 28,000 ISK per minute on the A/C's alone.
Anyway.....on topic....go with Amarr for no worries about Ammo or reloading, tough armour tank, and big Golden ships......or go with Caldari for an easy start in life, grey ships, no grasp of symmetry, the ability to tank a lot of damage over short time, and the ability to choose your damage type.

Thanks again for all the information everyone. Yeah I think I am going to go amaar simply for the fact that: (1) Laser turret combat seems more interesting to me, (2) They look better (gotta have something I'm able to look at without throwing up lol), (3) I don't really want to be a cookie cutter
From all the information I've received and my own testing I'm gonna go with Khanid and go that route. I don't really care about being the best atm, and if they get better than caldari later on then all well and good with me. I have plenty of spare time to train skills so its all gravy with me.
Thanks again everyone! and if you have anymore to add feel free its been a boatload of help thusfar
