I was probably somewhere raging that every time I tried to go to null sec I got blown up at a gatecamp. That's when I learned that I was probably good for a career in industry rather than PvP (Eve was my first MMO btw). |

Mining Kernaite in a thorax with 5 miner 2's and 8 ogres in the drone bay.. mmm. I was ceo of my first corp with some buddies, but they all left to join CLS and Ascendant Frontier right after the XF War in the south. I was also itching for kali (exodus) to come out, or was figuring out of I wanted to get a barge or not. I forget if kali (exodus) was released when I was 6 months old or after.
Currently in a worm hole, playing on the tail end of my 11th wind in eve... sigh, nearly 10 years is along time. |

Ah, them were the good ol' days... Black Rise losec shooting Quiet.Storm and getting ready to move to nulsec. At the time, faction warfare sucked big donkey **** and Black Rise was pretty much dead. Just the ocassional day-tripper, wannabe pirates camping Kinakka/Onnamon and Ikoskio/Ichoriya gates, and groups like ours with the desire to involuntarily violence other peoples' boats in e-honoureable space combat.

Well, about 3-4 months in I was invited to a channel called the space bar. I was 17 IRL at the time as was already running a fairly successful corp of about 30 members. We were a mining corp and the most recent expansion being Quantum Rise were were all working hard toward getting ourselves an orca.
We did eventually get it which was an amazing effort for us...but then we ran out of goals and it started to peeter out.
However, as a result of the space bar channel I was slowly dragged into some drama unfolding. The creator of the channel wanted to be the defacto non-official-help-chat for the newbs and his gimmick to make it work was making a point of having everyone using in-game voice.
It was working too. Not only was he teaching them but also leading them in newb fleet through level 4s. The Combat oriented newbs would join him in combat, the salvagers would come in and clean it, and the miners would mine w/e was in the deadspace.
Eventually someone got the idea to make a corp together since they were having so much fun....
That was the first bad idea. When it happened there were so many people trying to join they had a waiting lsit for the guy to train more corp skills. And inevitably a newb got can flipped by a greifer corp, and the greifer corp realized they had about 300 newbs on their hands...
I got involved in the war at some point, proud to say I killed the greifer corp's CEO at one point with an autocannon prophecy.
Around that 6-7 month mark though the whole thing had folded, tne space bar creator had disappeared from EVE (only to return several times over the year to attempt the same thing), and all the cool guys that originated from the space bar that didnt care fro the war and just wanted to have fun had broken off into their own channel. Several of them I still talk to today :D The Drake is a Lie |

The best advice I can give any Eve player, new or old, is to never ever ever read the general discussion subforum. It is a cancer on this game and should just be deleted. |

Back in 2003, first 2-3 weeks around Villore/Orvolle area. Then took my buddies to Outer Ring where we started making bank and making friends/alliance.
Had to deal with some terrible people within our alliance at the time and we couldn't really do much about them. So I started a second "Merc" Corp and we basically setup and ganked those people that we didn't like in PF-346.
These people that we didn't like, would transport Megacyte and Zyd all the way from Outer Ring to Yulai market (First major HUB; the Jita of those times), and PF-346 was the perfect place to jump them with our "Merc" alts.

So we ended up griefing the sh!tty people out of our alliance and made hilarious profitssssss while doing it
After that we joined in with other corps and went north to take part in the first "Great Northern War"
LMAO and this was just the beginning...

6 months into Eve I had wandered out into nullsec providence and was belt ratting in my thorax (still flew back to hisec every night though). I have no idea what induced me to try this, perhaps I had heard the area was NRDS. It was my first time in nullsec. I pretty quickly got hooked on the income and stopped mining and missioning. I'm not sure if the stations out there were conquerable or if they had been created by CVA. I also had to swallow my pride as a gallente because *amarr roleplayers* I only ever lost two ships out there, 1 thorax to a pilgrim, and a brutix to a Veto curse. I still find amarr recons to be effing terrifying. This was in 2006. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"

At 6 months I was running lvl 4 missions in and around Dodixie. Flying my 1st Navy Raven and thought I was King of EVE because of it. Turns out I wasn't crown King of Eve till about 2 months later after I'd defeated all the Serpentis the game could make (though I hear rumors of more serps about, but those are only rumors)

6 months into Eve, I was proudly undocking my freshly trained Abbadon and shooting Serpentis battleships in Fountain belts. The sight of a faction spawn was like the world to me.
Until I found out that as an anom/belt runner my ISK income was the absolute detritus of nullsec, with the middle class being explorers and people doing the high-class DED sites, and the top being large manufacturers as well as the inner circle of Moongoo-Online.
In the meantime I was elevated to the the middle class and enjoy the semi-good life. In another half year, I plan to once again level up. Having finished all the dread support skills, having a POS in Highsec for lulz, and finally find a new home in Null again. |

Also in Solitude. Though having fun as we tried (admittingly that being the key word) to oust the local lowsec corporation, who seemed to think the small lowsec pocket within solitude's highsec was theirs. Granted they kicked our newbie butts every time but was fun anyways and a good learning experience. |
