Do I get honorable mention for being the suicidal maniac that has the Gistii tank on two hulks which chain triple 1.55m BS spawns?

Quote: With Exhumers 5 and the four Shield Compensation Skills to 5, it will make the Hulk an extremely hardened ship!
The shield hardening skill bonus from the hulk is not gained through exhumer skill, but rather the Mining barge skill (which is already at V, so what you see is what you get)
That being said, I have been flying hulks for a while now. They are my favorite 0.0 ship bar none when it comes to making isk. The skiff doesn't come close simply because of the survivability.
The only way that the average hostile is going to kill a barge is if he NOSes it or picks it off while its tanking a spawn. I rarely do that though, as I prefer to just kill everything and leave the tanks running.
Right now my resists are: EM: 44 EXP: 91 KIN: 85 THR: 55
Obviously set up to specifically tank angels, so that natural 70% exp resist really comes in handy here. I use miner 1s as opposed to strip miner 2s as its safer on the cap and I hate staging lasers.
Even with a full tank setup (no mining laser upgrades; instead a named dmg control and a PDS II) I can pull 1227 ore units per tech 1 laser. that number would go up to 1432 with modulated, but I just dont feel safe running them when tanking, and I have had too many bad experiences with crashes and aggro change to drop a full tank on a half bil ship. So because of that, I typically run gist tank 100% of the time.

Quote: I'd be suprised if the Hulk would run out of cap with skills at IV... the natural recharge of 150 sec without skill is already very very fast.
Without energy systems operation IV and energy management IV, my alt killed the standard tank setup. the strip miners just pull too much capacitor when you re-cycle them. Sure, I could stagger them, but I hate that... and at that point I might as well use the T2 variant. I use this setup for rugged surefire survivability. Last thing I need is a surprise tank failure.
I am currently queuing Energy systems ops V and energy management V on the alt. I bet I could get a skiff to tank with a gist setup.

I just want to update that I am trying a new hulk setup and it is the most fruitful mining config I have come across.
Modulated Strip miner 2 [Bistot Mining Crystal II] Modulated Strip miner 2 [Bistot Mining Crystal II] Modulated Strip miner 2 [Bistot Mining Crystal II]
'Gistii' A-Type Small Shield Booster 'Eutectic' Capacitor Charge Array F-S15 Braced Deflection Shield Matrix [named explosive] Ballistic Screen Augmentation [named kinetic]
Mining Laser Upgrade I Mining Laser Upgrade I
Mining Drone II [10] 3 of each mining crystal in cargo
348 bistot/cycle and able to tank battleship/cruiser Angel NPCs with relative ease. I was a bit weary of the capacitor and the tank without an amp, but it holds up fine. Those gistii boosters are something else. The sm2s require a stagger of 30 seconds to fire without draining the cap while tank is active.

Quote: was also expecting the tank to hold without the internal force field array ... which skills do you have ? Mining Upgrade V ? 348 bistot/cycle is a very nice yield :)
It wasn't the force field array that I was concerned with, but rather the Shield amp.
Regardless, I have Mining V Astrogeology V Mining Barge V Exhumers V Mining Foreman V Arkonor Processing IV Bistot Processing IV Mining Drone Operation V and a 3% mining implant. ;)

I'm currently doing 3x msm2, Gistii, eutectic, FS15, non inertial ballistic, 2x mining upgrade. 372/375 cpu, 42.something out of 43 grid. 5 mining drone IIs 5 Warriors. It is probably one of the tightest fits I have ever seen, but it is also the highest yield ship in the game in this configuration and can still hold its own against most spawns. Angel spawns are naturally easier since you have 70% explosive base.
in 7 days I will have 108 pieces per laser and 3 pieces per drone for a grand total of 369 bistot every 180 seconds. If you compare this to a bone stock covetor with no drones, it is over double the ore intake.

I'm just getting the two standard +5% implants. the skill associated with the mindlink one and the fact that I already have half a billion isk worth of cybernetics in my skull is a little bit too large of a turn off. I mean at this point I am already a demigod of mining. The only skill I have left to train is mining upgrades to V so I can fit gist hardeners.
