So I can find and visit my friends in space I'd like to right-click a person on my buddy list and set destination.

Fair enough, but im going to add you to my buddies list, and as soon as i right click on you, set destination and find you in a low sec system im going to come gank you
See the flaw now? ________________ What you do is you store up the rage, let it fester while you gain strength, then use it to gank those weaker than you... and so the circle of life is complete |

There is no such flaw provided that the buddy listing is mutual and a certain standing between the players is set.
Let's say for you to autopilot your way to me, you'd have to be on my buddy list and I'd have to set my standing with you to at least (oh, let's say) 7.
The only people that would exploit such an idea with those conditions would be backstabbing low-lives.

I would say limit it to gang members - then if someone wants you able to navigate to them then they will gang you.

That's how it is now, and it's a rather annoying way to go about it. Rather than being forced to gang up just to jump/warp to a friend, a feature that would set a waypoint to a friend would be more convenient.
Plus, it would add the challenge of trust. It would force players to be really careful about who they allow to warp to them.

Well if the buddylist was improved and allowed for acceptance and rating then I don't think we'd have much of a problem with pirates using the buddylist to seek out prey (though your exact location might be intel that someone could squeeze out of someone esle).
I had a helluva time tracking down a buddy last night who was in need of help. I had to ask where they were, do a search for that system or station, then plot the best course. It's bloody time consuming. I want to set destination to my friends like I do agents.
