What do you guys think about having like player housing in large multiplex ships with 100's of rooms for players to live in and decorate? GorgeousGamers.com - Rate Fellow Eve Players Pictures! |

I dont honestly see the point unless we're able to get out of our ships, enter first person and walk around the station like some RPG-style games do.
Then I say yeh sure - but Eve is more of a third person game and so i dont think it fits in as it is.
Just my 2 cents.

We MUST!
Also, I am a big proponent of "Player Housing" - however it must be done carefully, and the habitats/housing MUST have a purpouse. Otherwise its just bling. I dont want 100 rooms to decorate with bling, If I want to decorate I will ask my GF.
I am actually very happy, that after mentioning the idea and pointing out some threads to the devs they have taken it up, very cautiously, granted. But, there is at least a possibility of Single Player/ Small Corp Habitats in the game, where previously there was none.

What's the point when you can have hangars all over eve. Also you can decorate your hangars with exotic animals, exotic dancers, homeless peeps, planetary vehicles....the phun never stops!!!!.
I have a hangar far from the haunts of men where I occasionally get intimate with my favourite exotic dancer, whilst getting drunk on spiced wine and smoking copious amount of cigs.
Peh!, player housing is sooo pas+sT

I agree with whoever it was who said they have to have an integral role - a fundamental purpose (small defendable, remote equipemnt / ship storage?) for existence .
Otherwise they'll end up as lag inducing, ghostowns like they did in SWG. There was nothing worse then say riding accross the lush grassy plains of Naboo when everything crashes to a halt before magically inserting an entire housing estate on your head, and let me tell you navigating a speeder through the hall of a small naboo house 2 is not fun

I would like habitats similar to deadspace complexes. Empty ones mind you.
Advantages of a dead space complex? - I have no idea my brain is fired at the moment too long day at work.
But I still think it would add an additional "cool" to the game if we could look for empty deadspace complexes and corps/alliances could move in for control of a "haven" so to speak, probaly good for smuggling?

Perhaps if we could interior decorate AND blow them up it would be a good idea.
Maybe each of the 12 races could have a style (wonders which races would get the much coveted "pimped" style.....)

lame, really lame.
might be ok in the fantasy games youve played , eq/daoc/wow, but not here.
ccp is trying to get rid of lag, and huge player numbers in high pop areas, and this post would only congregate the carebears.
FYI this is a pvp game, not a *** happy bunny "lets decorate our apartments" game. Quit trying to bring carebear game ideas into EVE.

Umm... You're laying in a goo filled pod. What are you going to decorate? If you want, just put stickers up on the inside walls of your pod. You can't see them in game, but you know they're there.

what the devs seem to have suggested is a mini POS type thing, perhaps somewhere to keep your treasure when you're in low sec and without a station. I think the whole not in a ship idea is a bit much, I like the idea that I could go for a wander in a station while I'm docked, just can't see it ever happening.

How about no.
What would be the point? Who is going to see your wee room? How often are you going to see your wee room?
In Fantasy game yeah I an see the point, actually in only game youcan actually move about and see your toon and your restricted to what you can carry in a backpack yeah.
But in Eve? any station you can dock in you get all the free storage you need and if it can grant you that amount of space not mention having large amounts of Battleships docked in it what makes you think you don't have at least temp quarters there?.
You fly a freaking space ship the smallest of them is as large as a jumbo jet.
Sorry but its like the walking about in E&B stations, fun for a while but then just gets sodding annoying.
========= "I am not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why can`t we just take the safety labels off everything and let the problem fix its self |

Housing is terrible. Player housing is one of the things that led to the downfall of the greatest PvP MMO ever, Asheron's Call. Don't do housing.

Instead of customizable player housing, i'd rather have customizeable ship skins, like the ability to slap some decals on your ship, or maybe a spoiler on your thorax (A nod to Warp Drive Active)

i don't know about you people, but i think there is already enough lag in some parts of the game. imagine warping into a station, only to have your hard drive through a caniption fit because 5000 feckin little pink and green and blue and red and yellow houses need to be rendered at the drop of a hat.
wtf! houses? this is a game involving space, space pirates and ugly aliens trying to pass as humanoids. this isn't mr. dress-up online, its a f!ckin space game, with ships and factions and powerful weapons. if you want to play house, go buy the latest version of the sims, or something equivalent to it.
this is game that has suceeded where many have failed. why? because it relies on the basics, and doesn't mess with those. if eve online ever tried to expand in the direction of *oh god* houses and bling, they would become the latest joke on the internet. plain and simple.
bahhhh! peace out

Don't think it fits this type of MMO, it fits fantasy based games more. If anything I'd like to be able to decorate your ship, personalize and make it more unique. Kinda like Earth & Beyond, where you could throw logos or some kind of picture on the side of your ship. ----

rather than doing that it would be cooler to see other ships on the pad while docked inside stations. Or cooler yet see capital ships docked outside.

You know, that's how I read the post as well the first time. My first thought was, Wow think of the pipe we'd need to all access Eve. Are we talking invidual internet connections or a high-end commercial grade trunk? Would accounts be included with the rental price? Does the OP have a line on an Eve addict's paradise? The decorating part though .

To build on this idea, something i would really like to see and would add a lot of extra flavour to eve is a residential/entertainment type station in certain hub sectors in eve. (the three main hubs methinks)
i envision a station, that looks kinda like a habitat just a lot bigger. Basically, you dock and on the right side menu theres a "enter station" button or something. You can than navigate between bars residential areas ect in a point and click kind of fashion. Im thinking something like those flash adventure games or the old myth, something like that.
Reason: The only interaction in eve is through the chat channel and the tactical overview of your ship with other players. This would give characters a chance to interact on a different level, meet in bars, make deals (decorate a room if you are so inclined).
Just some thoughts

Edited by: Resetgun on 10/03/2006 06:19:12 Edited by: Resetgun on 10/03/2006 06:16:36 I think it would be great to have 3D person characters and places where you could meet other players (bars, corporation offices, war rooms, etc.) Currently EvE-Online is missing immersion and role-playing. It is like Excel sheet with space flying. I will bet, if EvE would have 3D avatars, there would be at least three times more players.
Of course, it shouldn't be carebear safe area, you should be able to kill corporation boss, if you are ****ed off to him. It should be full and free PvP area - maybe in Empire space there would have some guard NPCs controlling area and weapon regulations. PvP should be something similar to Counter Strike (I would really hate, if there would be character levels and other artificial methods to solve fights). If you decorate your ship or outpost and someone shoots your ship/outpost - then your decoration should have been gone forever.
3D characters should be fully optional. Players should be able to play game without them. However, it could also open new ways to earn your income: for example tailors, hand weapon traders, contract killers, house decorators, bar/casino owners.... and exotic dancers.
However, this is just daydreaming. This is not going to happen.
(Edited: Damn typos!)
