Just had a chat with Amazon sales, pointed out the cost difference and made a bit of a moan and I am being put in touch with the team that deals with such issues... thin glimmer of no hope but will see if my skepticism can be proven wrong. Should anything good come of it I shall post back for you all to enjoy in the spoils :) |

That or, maybe, you know...understanding that Amazon.co.uk or amazon.whatevercountrythatisntamericahahahayoudumbschmuck you use can do the same sales if they want to, its a third party site doing the sales.

I'm with you, OP. Just last week I went to a store and bought a box of cereal for $3. I felt the sting of prejudice as soon as I checked another store which was selling the exact same box of cereal for a mere $2.50. |

That's a really small discount. It's much nicer when they offer 50% off and so. Not to mention the really good dollar vs euro (and GBP) exchange rates.
Let them keep their localized sales. We can get around it and there's no way we'd get the same level of reduction if they brought these to amazon.co.uk or what not. |

Well Amazons response was...
Due to US Import/Export laws... which I shot down immediately unless somehow every other country in the world is on the EAR export banned list now.
Then had the response of License agreement with the company so I have a question for CCP.
Have CCP placed a license restriction with Amazon US to restrict them from selling your goods outside of the US? Which would be odd considering it's probably an Import to the US in the first place. |

Awww look at all the tough guys in this thread. Let's just pile on the OP. You guys have so much integrity, damn. Okay, now watch how a proper human being replies:
OP, you cannot expect CCP to match the sales offered by third-party retailers. One of the major reasons Amazon buys PLEX in bulk is to get it at the reduced price. If CCP were to price-match them every time they offer PLEX at a reduced price, Amazon would stop buying PLEX from them. What would be the point, when no customers would have an incentive to buy from them? |

Confirming Icelandic companies massively favor Americans.
OP, if you want American prices, go to the city of Reynosa, Mexico. There are some gentlemen there who will help you enter the U.S. You just have to cross a river (just like a stargate) and then get past me and my buddies. We have a little corp called la migra, part of the DHS alliance. We like to gate camp the river; we're the ones in green uniforms. If you get past our camp, you get to be in America and buy PLEX at the Amazon trade hub.
We also don't pod people who don't use offensive mods on us. We just web you and scram you and send you back where you came from. It's carebear dream pvp. |

Oh Good God. Get over it.
Even when retail chain stores have a "sale", the prices can vary even from store to store, locally.
Why are you expecting the Internet to act as a method of "uniform pricing for all everywhere" as part of a fair business model?
Sounds only like self-entitled whining.

I had this same question a few months ago so I called up amazon.com support to find out what the deal was.
The simple answer is that Amazon.com is a separate entity from other domains. The .ca, .uk, etc. domains are quite literally different companies within the amazon brand.
So CCP has effectively done this, by dealing only with certain domains, instead of trying to deal fairly across all of them.
On the other hand, who the hell wants to deal with multiple companies to do a single promotion? Amazon's structure is hardly ideal for this sort of thing.
I never did get an answer on giving fraudulent information to participate in the deal, but I did bring it up. The response from the call centre rep was basically "umm, well...". Poster is not to be held responsible for damages to keyboards and/or noses caused by hot beverages. |
