Ok, for me I have isolated the problem. It appears my poor choice in a router is to blame. I bought a new Belkin (late at night cause I was in a hurry) and that was my mistake. Later on after trying everything else I did some extensive research on it and discovered it's buggy and known for packet loss. I have an older router I will install today and see if the problem stays away.
If it does, then it was the router. If not then the EVE client is having problems with some routers.

Edited by: Bruedah on 09/04/2006 15:31:49 Same thign started happenign to me yesterday, random disconnects to the log in screen. I've ran 2 seperate virus proggies, 5 different spyware programs, scandisk, fragment, etc. No luck so far, it still continues. It is not my isp as far as i can tell, i can load up and play 3 other online games and i have extremely low latency and absoluetly no issues at all with connectivity or lag.
I can usually run EVE along with another online game at the same time on a dual monitor setup and normally don't experience any issues with lag/latency or connectivity in either game. This morning i've been been playing nothing but EVE, and have lost connectivity 5 times.
I'd also like to point out that me and my girlfriend sit side by side and game throught the same network/connection, so we are running 3 online games through our connection at once, without issues, quite often. This morning it was just me on the network.

Edited by: Biznachola on 09/04/2006 20:41:17 Edited by: Biznachola on 09/04/2006 20:40:21 same here. It started yesterday April 8th for me. Almost impossible to play. Crahses every 10 sec to 10 min. Sometimes on char selection screen. Much more frequent when i run 2 acccounts (on same comp, 2 monitors).
Nothing was changed on my side, not the routher, no any new hardware added nothing to sugest that the problem is on my side. FIX the damn game.

I havent made a hardware change in a year. My setup was fine a week ago (Belkin router, P4 2.4Ghz HT, 1GB RAM , 1 x 37 Rptr, 1 x 200 IDE, 1 x 250GB SATA, 9800SE AIW (ATi Drivers), 1 x LS Audigy (problem here??), 1 VisioPus HDTV).
The game is totally unplayable. I am thinking about my ISP routes, but pings to www.eve-online.com are less than 360ms. Please any ideas

Same thing is happening to me as well.
The game randomly crashes to the login screen. I'v played many MMO's and I'm playing City of Heroes now and I do not have similar problems. I'm still in my trial account for EVE but I'm really enjoying it, that is until my ship was destroyed because the damn game booted me.
I was planning on upgrading to a retail account, but not if stability is this poor.

Have had the same problem East Coast USA as well - and I have noticed that many people in my Address Book are experiencing many disconnects as well. I gave up last night after the 6th disconnect of the evening. Seemed to start Saturday the 8th as well. Many of the people in my Addy Book are Euro players and are having the same prob - so it would seem to me to be on the server end.

Same here. East Coast. Eve will just suddenly close with a "Connection Timed Out" message. It's happening every 5-20 minutes and sometimes quickly back-to-back.

East coast.. started with the login error.. fixed that for abit.. now its random disconnects. Running 1 or 2 clients at the same time I get disconnects every 1-10 min. More disconnects when undocking/docking/jumping. Read every thread about this issue.. tried everything. Still happening.
This is the most common error I get from the error logs.
File created 2006.04.13 04:12:46 <string>:598: FutureWarning: hex()/oct() of negative int will return a signed string in Python 2.4 and up

the list goes down to 0.. woo can't believe I'm paying for 2 accounts on a game I cannot play for more than 10 min. Nothing has changed before or after march 8th problems I had in my hardware/software. I don't believe its the ISP since I changed that.. not running a dual core comp, My comps specs are double the required amount. Just throwing out more ideas to the pile.. hope my error logs help some.

It is NOT teh ISP. The ISP at home is different from the one at work. Connection types are also diferent. Home is DSL, work is t1 or something... Results are SAME. I also have 2 accounts but it doesn't matter if i run 1 or 2 at the same time it still crashes like crazy.

I am on the East cost as well. I am running 2 different accounts and one has no problems but the other disconnects in game between 5 and 10 mins without fail. So it think it has something to do with the char and database.

I am suspecting that is also has something to do with the number of people in the system/region. A friend of mine has no probs but I have some lag on his PC yet he can play 2 accounts no probs.

I run 2 accounts with no problems no lag even in combat. so only thing I can say is check your routers even though you may not have changed it it might still have had a problem. Reboot it and see what that does for you if you have admin in it double check your settings. check for firmware updates and if you have done some in that recent time then that might be the problem. run the log when ever you start eve and send it in and let CCP look at it and see if they can come up with anything . but to blame server when not everyone is getting the CTD heh dont see that being the problem.

Hi all,
Im able to login, but I get massive lag spikes evertime I do anything.
My drop in performance seems to be directly related to their change of ISP.
What do you want me to do? -I cant enter combat I lag out. -I cant activate modules I lag out. -I cant make more than a couple of jumps I LAG OUT.
Well done I think you might just have killed EVE.

Edited by: Yves DeFleur on 19/04/2006 01:51:15 This started happening to me last night...like 6 disconns in an hour or so. Happened again today a few times. I checked ZoneAlarm Alerts and Logs log files. I found that something from the server at 87.237.38.200 :26000 was routing something to IP address xx.xx.xx.xxx:xxxx and Zonealarm was blocking it. The timestamp was at the time I had lost connection. The Eve client (exefile.exe) is setup for zonealarm to be allowed to access and all that. I do not understand why this was being blocked. I think it is definitely the cause of my disconns. Listed under protocal was TCP (flags: AP)..no idea what that means.
I allowed it access as trusted and I am still disconnecting.

If you have slow connection to the server then you can expect occasional disconnection form the server (time out), to determine if that is the case try pinging this ip by pressing start->run type in cmd and hit enter, this will give you an command prompt where you type "ping 166.63.214.198" if the response is 200ms or more then the connection is simply too slow.
I tried this....I get 4 sent 0 recieved...loss 100%.....not good. Is this still the ip to ping? I called my isp anyways.

Replaced lan card and it's fine now. Something about it resetting (the land card) every 10 minutes to give me an extra 20 minutes....then resets every 10 minutes to give another 20 minutes, and so on. Before it was not doign that. It would go though he whole 20 minutes and then I'd lose all connections. I hope that was confusing enough....I certainly don;t understand it. lol
