There is an EVE Hardcore mode.
We call it NRDS. BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty. |

Why not have an opt in mode that lets you convert a character or create a new "Hardcore Mode" character. As an intensive. Hardcore characters can have +15% to all their base resists or something like that essentially making them harder to kill. Or, there could be hardcore only implants (since cpp already has that mechanic in place) Maybe, they have a skill queue for hardcore characters that trains faster. Lots could be done with this. |

Ok my 2 cents on this
Isn't there a "natural" limit how many SP a new clone can inherit anyway?
Create a new category for players who own and need such a clone. There is no reason to let a perfectly good frozen and burnt capsuleer corpse go to waste! Harvest for SP! Or skill levels! Or make it a "super end game" thing where you can only siphon SP if you are over that SP limit as well! Introduce a tracker for those that shows randomly one other person of those meeting the criteria and you have yourself a brand new eltist hunting mechanic! I'd really love to see some of the SP-gods battle it out. Besides that I also hold the opinion that CCP should make a PC version for Dust 514. |

I can't believe my eyes on how many experienced players run so scared of Hardcore. Truly yellow streaks down their backs when there is a possibility to lose so much and risk it all. Speaks allot about their true character.
All that "no risk" cloning allows them to keep their fake inflated stature like they really accomplished something other than played EVE longer and remembered to keep their skill training up to date. I guess never really losing when you die in EVE allows for the weak and meek to inherit the Universe.
What have you created today. |

Problem with that is that Capsuleers are supposed to be immortal. Immortality is supposed to remove the fear of perma-death, which in turn encourages risk taking etc. If we have perma-death in eve the only people willing to risk anything will be the one day clone grade alphas's out there who be created and rolled for a quick gank mission and that's it.
Eve is risky enough as it when all we lose is production of assets/isk or territory as appropriate. I would however support perma-death or hardcore mode for free to play pilots with no PLEX meaning that if they die without an active sub or plex they are gone forever but most people operating under these conditions would probably be station traders who never undock. Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction... |

This is not 'eve online hardcore', this is 'fregate online' and it's a bad idea.
I can't imagine my old vet 140m sp char beeing reset to 1M ^^ Not because i dont like risk, but because i spend 7years for it.
I can't imagine either, a noob playing a month to have this so cool cruiser, beeing kill at his first visit in low sec sending back to his station and not be able to fly his cruiser again. And after skilling 6month for a BC, same thing ? I don't think people gonna stay long if it's like that.
And serioulsy, CCP Fozzie how do you even beging to start it's may be a potential good idea to discuss ? I / We really want you to give your point of view in more details please.
The only thing that has 'merit' in this is the fact that obviously at a point in game the lost of one ship is not as revelant at your first 50 lost. Maybe this idea can lead to a creative discussion on how can we make a shiplost more revelant for any player. But i don't think reseting the SP is a good idea. |

CCP to implement "Highlander" system. Kill someone... absorb their SP and ISK.Death also results in permaban. And in the end, there will be only one. This sounds glorious.

You must complete the following steps to enter hardcore mode.
1. Undock your pod and self destruct.
2. Do NOT update your clone after self destruction
3. Fit a t1 frig.
4. Locate a system where a fleet fight is going on. I'd suggest a CFC vs N3/PL fleet fight as those are the populair one now a days.
5. Upon locating the system, turn off your hud.
6. Travel towards the system.
7. Upon entering the system, locate the fleet fight and YOLO yourself in the middle of it.
8. Shoot everything and everyone.
9. Upon frig loss, get podded and respawn.
10. You have now entered hardcore mode ... Obviously not a forum / spy / market alt ... |

I think its a bad idea.
1. This is EVE Online, Not Diablo 2 or Diablo 3 2. EVE is hardcore enough as is what with all the things to do and the larning curve 3. If this was implemented, it was just alienate more consumers and would lead to a subscriber loss, which would lead to Devs being laid off, which would lead to stangant development

maybe a section of space that is hardcore? where clones can't send their signals back. Don't go in that space and don't risk. Though maybe really good loot is there. |

uhm...i played for years thinking null-seccers were crazy mofos for risking it all if they got caught without being able to upgrade after getting podded... what if they forgot? bam! back to 900k
Honestly assumed that was the case till i actually went and joined a nullsec alliance a couple years ago with my jack-of-all-trades main.
haha...wow. after that my opinion of null-sec kinda dropped a tad |
