I've had jumps that were almost 100AU, I think there were some that were farther, but, its all how you look at it. You may be 100AU from a certain station, but less from another station/stargate/belt/whatever

I don't believe that's the case, as 100AU spots can still be busted with the aid of observators...
...but ofc I'm not official.

There isnt a range to scan probes. Observators are unlimited range.

Edited by: hydraSlav on 09/03/2006 20:02:26 OK, i am new. Was reading forums and heard people talk about creating safespots outside of scanner/probe range to make them safe.
Now from what you are telling me, if you don't show on scanner, you are exploiting? How come? Cause the enemy can't get to you? But what about hiding in station while being chased? The enemy can't get to you in those cases either, so that an exploit as well?
I dont get this

"Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly hugely mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space..." -- Douglas Adams, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"
So what's wrong with using some of that? I don't see why this would be considered an exploit... I'm guessing somone with a distorted view of PvP made this one up. The same ones that whine about Warp Stabs and whatnot...

Don't think it's an exploit, but it's not for me to decide that. But .. since it can still be busted, my guess it's not an exploit. Most SS I use are 200+ AU from the nearest planet/gate.

Its not an exploit unless you're using the Solarsystem bookmarks from that time period.
You can still make similarly "safe" safespots with an Observator.

Sounds smart to me *shrug* Isn't that why they gave us lots of space and warp drives?

the far out ones like 500AU ARE considered an epxloit...the ones that are 100au made using scan probes or an inty for some long amount of hours...isn't

That won't even get you 0.0005 AU away :) With ab, say very good skills and stuff maybe 2km/s? 2*60*60*8 = 57.600 km, 1 au = 150.000.000 km --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All former "deepspace" safespots are now on grid for the system. It just requires observators to find them.
So no, there are no "exploit" safespots. ----------

It's not an exploit. I was told it was by other players... petitioned when an enemy force used one of these and just sat there for an hour with their 30 man fleet... and the GM told me something like "it's not possible to have a safespot that cannot be found using appropriate tactics". Basically, all safespots are valid.
