Do we really need a font change ?

At the current state, it doesn't look very beautiful. So, my question is: Do we really need the font change ? You might dislike how the new font looks, but it is actually easier to read then the font we now have on TQ.

So they pay a special font guy to create this, and then say that they'll be developing a scalable UI because people complain about the new font bring too big. Should've just been a plan for a scalable / customizable UI from day one. Something like what WoW has had for years and years.

But, having seen on the dev blog examples of the solution, I'm not very enthusiastic about the original issue being addressed. You know how people get when they start playing with fonts. I guess the tale of the tape will come twenty years from now when you can identify veteran EVE players by their coke bottle-bottom glasses...or not... Smokestack lightnin' shinin' just like gold.

But what good does a new font do if you have to shrink it down super unreadably tiny because it sucks at making efficient use of space? With how gawdawful CCP has always been at UI design, I just know the new font is going to suck ass. edit: does anyone else get the overall impression that the new font was designed with a big dull crayon?

I don't particularly care for the new style. But the size (height specifically) is an improvement when it comes to readability. Unfortunately, it does mean the overview now requires more screen space. At least it is being worked on. "How do you kill that which has no life?"

EVE has also needed UI scalability for a long time. I'm not too keen on the EVE Neue font, but it's a damn sight better than the existing one: we can finally differentiate between 8, S, B, 5, and 6.
