Has anyone else noticed the Angel Vipers excessive regeneration?
From the data on Eveinfo.com they have a 60% chance of gaining 80 shield. These little buggers have always been annoying, but they are weak, so you just save them til last and then just afk kill them as you shoot 5 clips of heavy's at them. I decided to watch today, and I shot 33 volleys of heavies, and after EVERY one the ship regen'd its shields... Using the 60% "chance" there is a 1 in 4,523,374 chance that it would regen 33 times in a row...
Anyone else notice this?
True they are killable , but whats the point in tanking/firing for 15 minutes to kill one frigate? Seems a little excessive...

You would not be having this problem if you were using the correct dread.
(hint : precision heavy missiles)

I let my drones deal with them. Five Hammerhead I can take them out.
I also noticed this on the Serpentis Guardian Vets. They seem to regen their armor at almost 100% chance. Even my drones struggle to take them out, so I switched to using smartbombs against them. One large Notos Smartbomb takes them out with ease. It's sweet when 4 or 5 of them all go "pop" at once.

I know that using heavies it takes a good amount of time to kill them because of the low damage, my point was more the 33 consecutive regenerations when it is suppossed to be a 60% chance...

Yeah all those sorts of ultra frigates seem to tank like mofo's. Guardian vets die quicker to 250mm rails + web than 5 hammerhead II's .

i hit them first,
one missile to aggro them delay for 4 or 5 secs then a burst of all four other missiles, reason being onces they aggro they align and hit the MWD the delay of 4/5 secs allows the viper to boost is sig nicely just in time for a quadruple helping of In-Your-Face Havoc-Induced Pwnage, one salvo will take it into hull, then just one more for the pop, time your firing right and you can (and i do) pop two vipers as they approach you they never get into orbit. the same principle works for the webbifiers and arch gisti rogues. If they do get up close and personal, i hit them with twin med nos this stops almost all of the regen and allows them a much slower more painful 2 or 3 salvo death, or just sic 5 light drones on them, so many options, so many different ways to induce death
Warning, sig starts here,
Mwaha Mwahaha Mwhahahahaha. e'hem and now, for something completely off topic |

Yes they are a real pest the little #%&ers. Two of them at the same time really makes the missions interesting when flying a AF. The only way to deal with them in a AF is to aggro them from afar and then start running until you get one alone. Otherwise it's impossible to get them with a close combat setup.
Two spider drones are worse news though.
