If I'm understanding the payment options correctly and since we europeans pay for the game in euros and the rest of the world in US dollar, we acctually have to pay ~20% more? 
No big deal, but I think everyone should pay an equal amount!

People from european countries have to pay a VAT on purchasing online goods, this includes payment for online games. Hence the price is higher compared to the price in USD.

Thanks for pointing that out. I somehow was under the impression this game was based in the US, but I see now that it's acctually Icelandic of all places. My mistake..

The difference is quite large and doesn't account for even 17% VAT. Compared to the US, Europeans pay nearly 50% more to subscribe each month.

Considering that a PSP apparently costs 350 euros in Germany and 250 dollars in America, I'd call that BS  . Prices are already high enough

Yeah, but that's not VAT, that's just overpriced
VAT here in germany is 16%, not 40% (350 vs 250)
Besides, PSP Value pack with 2 games is 300 here, all other packs are cheaper. PSP with one game ist around 250 I think.
As vor the VAT, I think every country has another percentage. If I calculate with 16%, let's say $15 makes a $2.40 VAT, and $17.4 are about Ç14,5
So it's not far away from Ç15. I don't know how CCP exactly does it with one price for all the countries. And of course not every country has Ç or is an EU member.

With the risk of going off topic, and with the risk of starting something else, I don't believe in the system in US. Sure, lower taxes, but to what price? That 20% helps with schools and public health care etc.

15 USD is about 17.25Canadian. It's actually cheaper for me, then say City of hero's, the other MMO I play, as if I use a time card, they cost 39.99 Canadian, plust tax, so 45.98 Can after tax. So 22.97 Canadian per month for CoH.
So for me, Eve is about 5.75 Canadian cheaper for me per month :)
then again, I have my main account, and now my power of 2 account.. :) so it's not bad.
Power of 2 account costs me about 9.50 Can per month. Over half what my CoH account costs me.

Canadians simply aren't allowed to play. ;)
One thing I noticed the other night. I got home late from a trip to St. Louis and sat down to train up a few low level skills. About 4am CST, I got the message that the servers were going down for their daily maintenance.
At the time, I thought, "Well, 4am to 5am isn't a bad time for maintenance." But then I realized that the servers were in London. That would be 10-11am GMT. Which could interfere with gameplay for the European customers.
Does the server down-time affect any of you European customers? Because the time really seems like it's set to not interfere with the schedule of American players.
And that just doesn't seem fair to me.
Unless the CCP techs that do the server maintenance don't show up to work until 10am or so. ;)

I'm converting cash for account payment for a Danish friend of mine (doesn't have a CC or bank account) and paying in USD... Now that I know about the VAT I'm gonna shart charging him a 20% "Wow I've never seen a Kroner before and I work at a fkn bank, CINDY LOOK AT THIS!" pain my my rear tax. lol

DT is scheduled to effect the fewest Euros, who are the core of the game's players. The servers are in London, so the devs scheduled DT for the convenience of mid-day when the server crew is at work. They planned it so that they could get to work, get their coffee and wake up properly, and check the status of things properly before taking the servers down.
11-12 GMT thus fits nicely in with when most players are either at work or at school so that they won't even notice that DT has occurred. It just happens that it's convenient for Americans even more than Euros, but probably 95% of both groups are completely unaffected by the timing.

As an American, I'm already embarrassed for the inconveniences that my country has caused Europe over these past few years. I'd hate to think my gameplay schedule would be doing so as well.
