In search of the holy grail of gate camping....
In quite alot of threads recently I've read about people talking of ship setups that can tank low sec sentry guns forever solo. I'm not sure I believe there is such a thing..as they have never when asked provided the setup. Here are the only two ways I've found to get close to this..
1. A scorp / raven with heavy tank and alot of NOS sucking at a 'cap supply scorp'
and..
2. A scorp sitting next to a can of booster charges. This took alot of work to operate though...and the firepower was plain pathetic.
The problem with the above setups is that DPS / lock time is reduced to such a low level that it's just not worth the increased risk of sitting flagged on the gate. Maybe a dread could do this solo ?
In some camps we have used dedicated tackle ships that are using all NOS, and just sit at gate fast locking / tackling jumpers. These are no good solo though.
The ideal setup would be something that could tank for ever, still have a good lock time, tackle and do damage. Obviously this is impossible though.
Any ideas ?

Yeah guess so.. coupled with a faction BS. I'd like to achieve it with T2 mods though, would be a great tool.

Augoror (Or even logistics ships) with one or more large Energy Transfer Arrays and the right skills can donate a LOT of cap.

Solo...I don't know.
Maybe fitting for max resists with a remote repair buddy would work.

Hello
Maybe a chain of support ships at thyre max transfer range one from the other with the last outside the sentry range (u will need a some...). Could this work, maybe, coupled witha BS webber and scrmabler to increase the range on the BS so fewer support ships will be needed?

Dont think it can be achieved with t2 mods. Unless an armor tanked apoc can pull it off?

U need ur highs for dmg.IMHO ur cap won't hold for ur boost and boosting ur friend.

How many drones can a raven carry? and would it be feasible to have two ships using shield repair drones on each other? thus keeping the highs free for damage

Could you get a ship with a large drone bay, put a load of range extenders on it and have it use repair drones from outside of sentry range?

If it could be done, and one would post the setup the damage output of the sentries might just go up enough to make it imposible again...
You are not supposed to be able to do so and thus chances are that there is a way but them who have found the way would not be wise sharing the secret to the ever lasting sentry tank.
Though, when you are just inside sentry range, and your budy is just outside, him sending you cap or an other kind of remote assistance you could have a whole group of people feeding you as long as you are the only one in range, you will draw the fire and the rest will be safe.
Just my two cents, no idea if they are worth much in the EVE universe though.

The sentrys target drones and destroy them as they belong to a criminal flagged player.

It can be done in a tanked poc easily but lock time and tackling is crappy.

I've done some gatecamping in low sec with my Moros and had really good luck... But those damn sentry guns try to kill my drones!
The problem is, people are way too happy when a Dread kills them (usually) and they spam a bunch of channels and a big party shows up a short time later.
Another option might be a Carrier that can easily tank sentries plus shield/armor rep the others camping at the gate.

Brave man trying it in a dread, but sounds alot of fun none the less. A carrier though does sound an option... though one I could never afford

Sorta offtopic but does anyone know if freight containers are ejectable? And do they have more or less HP than a GSC? Just wondering if a freighter could drop off a freight container loaded with cap boosters at a gate. 3000 cap booster 800 charges would go a long way

how many pure dps do sentries do in worst casa? (there is some rof difference in those I, II, III)
However, vampadomi with a little better hardeners could do it i guess. Just make sure you have buddy in apoc sitting there:P
Sentries will shoot drones though which sucks, but you can put few on ss and grab them later if you need to.

ive done it on the test server whit a domi two large armor reps, five hardners(2kin 2explo 1therm) and a heavy cap booster and alot of 800charges

Cap charges => any ship can do it.

Use a Domi or Apoc to tank and Nos and a little DPS on the gate and 1 or more Megas at 200kms all gank to kill?
I am sure a combined DPS of 1000 is easily attainable...

I saw a raven do it with +2 stabs. Not sure what his set-up was. He was at the gate for 20 minutes+. I tackled him with my wolf... +2 scram and away he went.
If I get him I will post his config, I promise :). I can fly an Ishkur now so hopfully +4 will get him.

I have a cheap tempest setup for tanking the sentrys forever.
Won't reveal it here though, but if u want the info Tiller let me know ingame. Damage output is not good though, 4x1400mm II's :/

Most of the good bs's can tank sentries solo. But I don't think there is a battleship out there that can tank sentries solo and still have a sensor booster or two plus a warp disruptor. Without that there is no point.
Find a friend. 2 bs's can do it easily with good skills.

The ceo of my old corp could do it in his tanked apoc forever but i dont know the setup i guess a regular tanked apoc could do it Np.

However, i noticed that i can catch battleships/BC/indys with expander on jump in with BS. (no boosters or amps, and my electronic skills also aren't that great), but most valuables are in the frigs anyway..

I think you can fit apoc something like:
3x cap rechargers, 2x LAR, 3x hardenrs+nano, cap relay...
Cap will/should last very long.
