This thread isn't about what isk farmers/macro-miners are, or how to fix the problem. It's about how far it can go.
Note: By macro-miner/isk farmer I mean those who mine 24/7 just to make as much isk/hour to sell for real cash.
Another mmorpg that I used to play had the same problem of macro-miners as we do in EVE today, except it was much worse. An alliance in the game, which owned number of castles and had control over special territories, decided to work with macro-miners for the benefit of the alliance.
Now don't you think the same could happen in EVE, or has it already? An alliance which lives in 0.0 and basically has total control over the systems could 'hire' macro-miners (or rent out the belts) to mine the systems. In return macro-miners would give part of their earnings to the alliance, and still would be making alot more then they would have if they had stayed in high-sec areas. Peace!

Macrominers are cheaters - all fairplay gamers, especially leaders of corps and alliances have to make sure that they dont have macros in their group. To allow a member to use a macro is for me the same like macromining.
Fairplay means that you also petition a person that is in your own alliance or your own corp! Petition macrominers, donŠt let them cheat! If i would find a macrominer in my corp i would kick him, petition him and then make sure he gets banned for ever. This is what also has to happen in the big alliances! Respomsible leaders have to make sure that their alliance is clean - CCP canŠt do it alone and does not seem extremly interested in banning people that pay 10$/month. They ban when they have to, not more or less.

All the flames for pointing out what "could" happen? I'm sure there is an evil alliance out there that rather use macro-miners to their advantage than spend time reporting them.

As no such alliance exists it wont happen. EVE is attacker friendly and that will most prob not change.
But anyway, if it would get known that an alliance is a save haven for macro miners nearly anybody who travels 0.0 would move over there to kill them. The mins have to be sold befor you one can sell the ISK.

i doubt it the thing is player corps can be war - dec'd pirates can get into where any such macroser were in 0.0 and simply blow em to bits (u wouldnt be able to get em all out) tho the issue of NPC corpers needs addressing give individual players the ability to war dec ppl older than 3 months in NPC corps (this would include most of those macro miners odler than 3 months who remain simply because of inaction on petitions)
10m a day im sure some ppl would play to pod repeatedly chars older than 3 months (who should be in a player corp anyway_ and it might force some carebears to join a player corp to
CCP: requested feature please - quite simple really.
For CEOs, days since last login details on all members in their Corp. this will help manage inactives and those that dont log in can be removed. |
