Closer than you think. How do you make the old timers and the new players a little closer, by removing mega in large quantity. If players can not get the mega to build a BS then you force the players to use a cruiser. This would seem to be a perfect answer to balancing the game if it were not for a few things.

1. People will stop using BS not because they can not afford one but because they can not build a replacement. But this will only be short term, the smarter people will store their BS until all their enemies BS have been destroyed then jump out and overpower them.

2. At first glance this would seem to level the playing field with those that use frigs/cruisers exclusively and thus would allow for better PVP. But this just shows CCPs short sightedness, what this will actually do is hurt PVP of any type. Because players will have to really weigh the cost of replacing modules and ships. PPL forget that modules also use mega, while this may seem be good for the market because the price will raise it also will only happen at first. Once the minerals are no longer available people will stop using them.

For the people like Jash that require their coffee cups to have "caution, contents are hot" imprinted on them I will try to simplify. When something becomes too rare it looses it value of purpose. For instance, say jash was given a 2 dollar shirt. Well he can wipe his nose it as usual. But now say his mom gives him a $200,000 shirt; see now the shirt has lost its purpose for him because the replacement cost is too high.

Soon BS will be come to expensive to replace not in ISK but in materials.

The end result, less PVP as players will be less likely to risk their equipment.

Well recently, thanks mostly to the Sinister Russian Cow Corporation , battleship sales and production are in high order. The megacyte shortage appears to actually be causing production delays .

This is bad for everyone from miners and manufactures to pvp fanatics. It slows the game down imo.

Rarely do I support miners and their cause. But I have to say on their behalf, get the mobile refineries in game fast .
