Uhhh, but its ok for you to abuse them by blowing them up??
Blowing somebody up is not abuse. It's the nature of Eve. Your premise is way off. I'll say it again...if anybody has a problem with being blown up or podded, they're playing the wrong game.

I think there's a strict difference between podding and ransoming the pod.
If you shoot someones ship and then then kill the pod, without ransoming you're pk'ing. You're not pirating. This can have an IC reason or be out of the ppure fun of it OOC. But if you don't ransom, or at least tro to make an attempt at extortion you really are only pk'ing. You're being a PvPer. Not a pirate.
This being said I try to ransom the pod. The only time I'll kill the pod is when they don't pay or I get interrupted.

I have no problem being podded by someone who is MY lvl of experience. But when ppl get jumped by 5 BS' and they are in an Ityy THAT is abuse. I have been podded alot in my whole month of play. I dont mind a FAIR fight. Dont get me wrong. I just dont understand picking on the 'weaker' players. Cant be a challenge to the other player, so wheres the fun? Just being able to pick on someone smaller?

There are reasons beyond piracy to pod. Good reasons, not "you're just a pvp-er/player killer" reasons. I listed four of them.

If you're in an iteron moving through low sec space, you've got a bit neon target on your back. Who knows what tasty goods your hauling? And the podding I guess just adds to the ruthless reputation of said pirates. Get the goods and kill everyone in sight kind've thing.
If you do not understand the means to survival in low sec space though, then don't go into low sec space. That's the brutal reality of it. If you have questions, ask folks. Plenty of veterans willing to offer tips and advice.

Says who? Quote: Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirate
Modern definitions of piracy include the following acts:
* Kidnapping of people for ransom * Robbery * Murder * Seizure of items or the ship * Sabotage, resulting in the ship subsequently sinking
Now according to the definition of piracy, I don't see any requirement of ransoming or similar to be labled a pirate. Looks like you can rob them, murder then, just take over the ship, or blow it up for fun. --------------

all depends where your sec status is, If you donot mind -5.0 or below pod away, if you don't want to be -5.0 or below DO OT pod it's just not worth it.

I don't know anymore tbh. Three times now I have tried to ransom.... all three times I didn't get paid.
Not even an offer. My last kill today I asked my victim (who by the looks of things was jumping someone else in a frig when I rocked up) to make a donation to the Great Space Goat. He 'lol'ed me and closed the convo.
I don't really want to pod people for no reason....but what can you do when this kind of stuff is going on.
C'mon.... I need to feed my kids and crappy T1 gear isn't good on their teeth I tell you.

Had a few people pay ransom on their ships.... also had a few not. The pods I do manage to lock (fair few since Ive been flying an inty lately) all get ransomed. So far none of the pod ransoms have paid up. Then its a case of are they being nice/offering the souls of their unborn children to keep their pod or are they telling me to "kiss both sides of their ass cheeks" (happened last night). The former sometimes get to keep their pod. The latter always dies.
Mind you lately rats have got more killmails than me cos I have managed to leave them with not enough structure/tank to stay alive with rats hitting them while I am busy ransoming. _________________

Gets them out of local...
Keeps them from coming back in a bigger ship (in the case of blowing up an older player in a hauler or barge)...
Gets me an extra kill mail...
It makes a squishy sound... ________________ ~Phelan Lore

oh, and to the OP, I pod because I like the sec hit, nobody pays pod ransoms anyway. Also I have a massive corpse collection going, and ofc it removes them from local so they can't go around going "omg u nub **** off i hate j00" and scaring away all the mining barges and ospreys

possibly, but outside of Eve at least, anybody who goes around killing people for ****s and giggles is usually branded a psychopath rather than a pirate.

Pirate. Murderer, Psychopath. All semantics. They can call me Amelia Bedelia if it makes people feel better when they wake up in the cloning facility. --------------

As utterly horrifying as the prospect of arguing semantics on the internet is, i'm pretty sure piracy is a 'career'. Murder is a 'hobby'.

i might just do that.

We all know Suffoco Noctis like to label themselves as murderers and not pirates anyhow. -----
